Clean, Great Free Breakfast, Private Parking Lot
By T. Sherrill, 3/22/12
Saw some bad reviews from around 2008. The hotel is much better now in 2012. The rooms are nice and furnished tastefully, very modern. Everything is very clean. They have a great free breakfast each morning with a variety of food and drink. The beds are as good as any hotel but the pillows are awesome - 3 pillows per double bed, 2 firm, 1 soft. I love lots of pillows myself so I liked that. The room itself was quite hot but rather than give us the runaround, front desk told us that the main AC was not turned on since it's still spring. However, they brought us a nice, strong fan. We opened windows and that was fine as it even got chilly at night. Right near Prudential Center arena. Not so good stuff: Sirens, sirens, sirens! And I wouldn't walk around the area at night unless in a group. The hotel does have private, gated parking though. With a AAA price currently (3/2012) @ $108 - worth your money.

I can't wait NOT to come back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/08
People at the front desk were rude. No shuttle pick up at the Newark airport as promsied. Perhaps I would have had a better experience if I didn't speak English.

We would recommend this place to anyone!
By Mary Ann, 9/7/08
I love the place except for the parking its so crowded & I had to leave my keys with the attendant in the lot when we got ready to leave that morning had to walk quite a distance from point A to point B to get my keys. They had moved my car and I was upset about this, but overall I loved the hotel!!

! Night Stay
By Toni, 6/12/12
I didn't dislike this hotel. The reviews I read are from years ago, so don't base your stay from them. I was there for my High School Reunion and stayed the night. The room was clean and did not smell and I did have wireless internet service. I didn't get to check out the hotel as I usually do when I stay at hotels, but I didn't find anything horribly wrong with it and I would stay again. I think they need to put an entrance to the hotel from the parking area and the front desk staff need to communicate with each other.

WHAT A BARGAIN AND GREAT LOCATION
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/1/11
The hotel is rather unique, Rooms are clean and modern with great internet access. flat screen and movies were also good. Free breakfast and biz center were the best I have ever seen in a hotel for under $100. The best of all is 15 minutes from Manhattan. Had to stay in NY one night cost me $395 and wasn't as nice as Treat

Expect Sleepless Nights...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/17/08
I truly wish I had read these reviews before booking at this hotel. I had the same problem someone below mentioned..plus more: 1)I booked a King bed, and was given a Queen with the front desk person saying "all" of the rooms were booked even though I reserved my King 14 days in advance online. Apparently they don't check their online reservations. 2)The front desk person was very rude, tried to charge me for the Queen room when I had already paid online for the King. (It took a manager to actually get a refund on the previous reservation) 3)The manager told me to actually get the room I reserve online I have to also call the same day to make sure they are holding my room..wow. 4)The rooms are incredibly noisy, you can hear EVERYTHING going on above, below and next to you. Would not stay here again even if someone paid me to!

It's not a treat
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/19/07
I found the staff at Robert Treat to be rude and unhelpful. I had to stay here for 6 weeks due to work, so I didn't want maid service every day. After a couple days of putting the "do not disturb" sign on my door, the housekeeping manager called me at 8 am on a Saturday morning to ask why I was "refusing service". It was a constant battle to have my choices respected - what is the point of having "do not disturb" and "maid service please" signs if staff do not pay attention to them? Parking was also a problem. The hotel parking lot also has spaces for local businesses and is used for NJPAC or other events. Often my car was blocked in, and once the parking attendant directed me to a part of the lot reserved for the local businesses, which meant another early morning phone call. This time it was 7am and I was told I had to move my car or be towed. When I asked the front desk where I was allowed to park, the clerk said he didn't know. I ended up unplugging my phone so they could no longer disturb me, and I spent many nights in New York with friends - as many as possible. Please do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

Truly a TREAT!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/2/10
I hesitate to write this because I feel like the Treat is my secret gem and I'm perfectly happy to see all the other lousy reviews that will keep the masses away. But here goes - the first review I've ever written. Okay, first the bad: it's in Newark NJ. It's urban, a bit sketchy at night but that’s a characteristic of the city, not hotel. I found the staff to be uber friendly, always smiling and making sure I was taken care of. Super clean and modern rooms. The lounge behind the restaurant is a MUST. Elegant, quiet, dark and inviting – like the livingroom you wish you had. Introduced myself to Mayor Booker who was conducting business there last night. Clean gym in basement with new equipment, mostly cardio. Decent breakfast (included) in the mahogany paneled internet café. Incredible service and not rushed at all. Magazine racks on wall and free internet screamed for me to just relax and hang out. Wish I could have. Oh, and the room was $90 before tax. This kind of luxury, 10 min from Manhattan for under a hundred buck? Feel free to stay away from my secret gem.
