WELLESLEY INN at Whippany,NJ...A MUST TO AVOID!!
By ian, 6/18/09
I stayed here when it was Howard Johnson's and then recently when it is Wellesley Inn.It looks as if nothing was done in improvements but was a horrible and dangerous experience.First off,the front desk manager was rude and not responsive to complaints. The place smells bad in the hallways and the hall rugs are the same as the HoJo days. There were seriously unruly youths running amok, yelling or talking loudly in the halls, the courtyard.People left rugs stuffed in the doorways so people could come and go and visit leaving the place with a security breach. It actually seemed as if we were not in a hotel but rather a inner city tenement with parties and loud bass booming stereos playing a few nights until 2AM and one time until well after 4AM.There was distinct smell of marijuana whenever one walked in hallways. There were suspicious looking people milling around the parking lots which make you really worry about your cars.People were coming and going quickly which made it look as if people were selling drugs. This place should really be closed down and razed,if anything, since that's all they do in NJ is tear things down these days...or bring Howard Johnson's back and make sure there is new management as the current one is inept and in serious need of attitude adjustment. In closing, whatever you do,please for safety's sake,DON"T STAY HERE,if you value your sleep, sanity and well being.Spend the extra bucks and venture elsewhere. Thanks for reading this and have a great stay in the Garden State...ANYWHERE OTHER THAN WELLESLEY INN!!!!! You don't get your money's worth!!

Not a safe place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/30/09
In overpriced NJ this motel is the least expensive you'll find. The motel & it's rooms are fairly old & parts of it look it,but, not being the average American,I don't have to have everything just-so.Room was cleaned every day, there are very few TV channels, pool doesn't look like it's been used in years,in the event you care about those things.First time there went well, but the second time the place was taken over by a large group of,you're supposed to be pc,undesireables.Extremely loud music, they took over the halls,& propped the door open so all their friends could join the fun.The staff must be deaf, apathetic,or afraid to confront them.Say it ain't so,Whippany.

It's a dive, but fairly clean.
- Bed sheets were clean - Scary towels - Worn room/building/property - No full length mirror - Deep tub - Housekeeping did not clean the tub - Fair Internet speed - Poor channel selection - Poor workspace, barely see TV from desk - Friendly staff

NICE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/22/07
The people were very nice, they dont look down their nose at you!you can come and go without brotherning anyone side doors are not always locked and you dont have to park a long way from a door!. the maids dont knock on your door at 7:00 am on check out day trying to hurry you up, like at other hotels. If you need more stuff for your room all you do is ask for it .they dont have to count the washclothes befor giving you more! like at other places...

You get what you pay for
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/15/06
When we checked into the room at 1:00 a.m., my husband went to use the bathroom, flushed it and it overflowed like Old Faithful! The front desk attendant was very friendly and switched us to another room immediately. The people who worked there were always friendly and accomodating and the continental breakfast was pretty good (cereal, bagels, apples, donuts, mini-muffins, juice and coffee), they had microwave in the lobby of the hotel, a very small coffee maker in the room and the iron didn't work, but we had brought our own. The hotel is older, in need of fresh paint, carpet cleaning as you could see a lot of stains, and there was a smell to the place. Didn't see any bugs, so that was a plus! The pool was closed and it looks like they are maybe doing renovations, didn't bother to ask. There is a new Chinese place that opened up adjacent to the hotel, very good! Again, you get what you pay for!!
