You NEED TO read my review!!
ITS LONG, BUT WORTH THE READ.. I THINK
Went there Feb 08 with my bfriend and after reading the reviews was pertrified, but couldnt find anything cheaper which was close to the city, and didnt envolve sharing a bathroom...so booked, and we were very surprisd at how GOOD it was, the people who left negative reviews are either REALLY picky or went there while it was under old management. They are really unfair felt I just had to give a review and heres a TRUE account of my experience at Palace hotel...
DISLIKES: The ONLY negative thing about this hotel, was the construction work which was going on, on the floor above.(One morning started at 7am!!) But hey the're only trying to make improvements so cant really fault em for that!! Plus we were there for shopping in NYC, so by the time it started, we were already up and soon ready to leave.
LIKES: The hotel had good transportation links to the city, there IS a shuttle bus, we got that on our 1st morning, but found it cheaper to uses the local transport buses which are really frequent straight into manhattan for $2. But check times as dont think they run after midnight.
The rooms were clean, and cleaned again everyday, the bathroom was clean, our room smelt fresh, the tv worked fine, the kingsize bed was VERY comfortable, could've slept through day,(if it werent for construction work... and the fact we were there to shop, not sleep in!)
SOME of the staff werent overly polite, but there werent rude either, they just smiled breifly and went back to work. The cleaning staff were very polite.
Breakfast was good, lots to munch on, the lady in the breakfast room doesnt speak english and doesnt make any acknowledging interaction with you and often talks to herself loudly in her language, when shes cleaning up but after the 1st day, you kinda find it funny.
Erm... overall, had a good time. Its not a grand hotel, so dont be stupid to expect 5*grand treatment. If going to New jersey to shop or do whatever, then its everything you NEED from a hotel, clean, comfortable, affordable and breakfast included!
No complaints really, would definatly, stay there again, if couldnt find cheaper in NYC....but hey satying in NYC might be worse cos its more busy!!
HELPFUL HINTS: Dont go to secaucus mall, thers barely anyone there, probably about 6 other shoppers in the place..and they were probably workers on a break.
New Port mall is worth visiting its very big.
Hope this review helped, it really was a great time out there. Dont be put off by the negative people, they probably work for one of the neigbouring motels!! Enjoy your stay!!
