But the ad I read on inet stated a continental breakfast, which was a must when booking our motels for our trip. the breakfast was not provided...but otherwise everything else was ok

Nice, clean hotel

I think the bad reviews must pre-date a renovation. While this is certainly not a luxury hotel, the rooms were clean and in good condition. The staff was efficient and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Our room was great, the employees better, and the onsite bickfords is a great place to eat.We had a one bedroom suite, great living room with tv, a full kitchen, king bed, and double whirlpool. The only thing we didnt like was the heaters, hard to adjust for a comfortable temp.

This hotel was a gem!

I decided to go to the Portsmouth area at the last minute, and couldn't get reservations anywhere I called, so I asked another hotel manager where he'd recommend. He told me to call the Best Western Wynwood. The room was spacious and clean with lots of extras like samples of toothpaste, shampoo, mouthwash and lotion in the bathroom. The indoor pool (it rained all weekend) was well kept up and a good temperature, and the jacuzzi was divine. But the best part was the staff who were quick to offer us maps and advice, and were always friendly. I would go back in a heartbeat!

HOTEL HELL

This is the hotel from hell. We arrived to find our rooms unprepared so we waited. The desk clerk was most unpleasant. Beneath the beds were found nasty cigarette butts and a pudding cup. There were insects on the towels. One refrigerator broke ruining the food we had. The pub had some nasty business going on. To top it off, my car was badly vandalized. Someone claiming to be the manager offered compensation which I refused. They will not pay for all the damage to my car, I understand they are not insurers, but I am astounded at the attitude of the manager who said I was copping an attitude because I was angry over this nightmare at the Worst Western.

Horrible Experience

I have stayed at many hotels and by far, this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I truly believe that we could have had a cleaner atmosphere at a roach motel than we did at this one. The hotel itself wasnt bad but our room was filled with dirty walls (couldnt decipher whether it was dirt or blood), a slider that wouldnt open, an A/C unit that smelled of mildew when turned on, one of the boxsprings was covered with dried up blood and what appeared to be knife slits, and when I made a 4:00 AM call to the front desk to report the one hour of partying I had been listening to, nobody answered (this partying continued until 5:00 AM). I wasnt too pleased with the parking situation either. To pay over $100, you would anticipate better accomadations and a cleaner atmosphere. This doesnt personally speak for all Best Western's being that I have stayed at numbers of locations and never stayed at anything quite like this.

A nice room, although the bathrm. vent was full of dust, convenient location and easy enough to get around and get back to hotel without much anxiety! The parking lot needs improvement though in that there isn't enough space, especially for our vehicle, an Excursion. Be sure to book on-line though because our original plan was to stay one night but because I had to spend much of the evening in the E.R. w/my daughter we decided to stay another night and the room (even with a $30. discount by the mgr.) ended up costing $25. more than the internet rate of $110. - if she hadn't given us a discount it would've cost $165/night - ridiculous price in that this isn't luxury! The internet rate was the best & I'm sorry that I hadn't booked two nights to begin with. Staff are friendly and very helpful with directions at the desk, I asked for a good seafood restaurant and she gave me a $5 gift certificate toward Warren's - where we ate both nights because why look elsewhere when it was the BEST! I probably would've rated this a 3 had the price been better.
