Beautiful lobby, dingy rooms

My sister attends Philips Exeter Academy, so when I visited her I chose to stay at the Exeter Inn for convenience. The location is great, not just for those visiting the school or the lovely town of Exeter, but also it's not too far (30 min) from Manchester Airport.
The price for the room was a bit high ($130), but after seeing pictures on their website, I figured it would be nice. The lobby and hotel exterior were lovely, in that antique New England way, so I expected great things from the room.
The room was a major disappointment, though. It was tiny, smelled of smoke (despite being a non-smoking room), and the carpet was not clean. The TV was small and the remote control broken. I checked in around 10:00 pm and had to wake up for an early flight, so I was too tired to put up a fuss with management. Still, I'm not planning on staying here again.
