Nice place, but missing ammenities
My husband and I recently returned to Vegas for our anniversary and chose to stay at PH because it's part of the Starwood Hotels network that we are part of. It was a comfortable atmosphere, the decor was nice and the room was spacious. The bathroom was particularly nice. It was big, with a double vanity, walk in shower with bench, soaking tub and separate water closet. What was missing from the room was a refrigerator/mini bar, coffee and the Bliss toiletries that normally come with a Starwood room. We went carry-on only and I packed light--figured I could use the lotion and shower gel that was provided. No way--it was really stinky!! Smelled like chemicals. On the plus side, the Miracle Mile shops in the lobby made purchasing my own stuff really easy. There are 2 ABC stores there.
There were plenty of time-share sales people in the lobby, near all of the elevators and in the casino. That was a bit irritating after a while, but we won more than we lost there and liked the casino overall.
About the food, Yolo's and the Spice Market Buffet were both so-so and the buffet was definitley overpriced. However, we live in the SF Bay Area and have access to a lot of great food, so maybe we're spoiled. Maybe. Lastly, the "room upgrade" we got was to a room on the 14th floor (not so spectacular in Vegas) with a view of NY-NY and Excalibur in the distance. Closer to the room was the south hotel tower and a lot of contruction--at least 3 Vegas-sized projects. There was no noise and from many parts of the room the distant view was more prominent, but I wouldn't exactly call it an upgrade.
The staff were all courteous and prompt and everything was clean. The location was perfect--very central. I would neither recommend nor deter anyone from staying at PH.
