Will not go back! Way over priced!
By Jessica Heinen, 8/3/11
My husband is in the army and was in Omaha for training, so my daughter and I went to visit him. This is were him and the rest of his unit was staying. We had to get a seperate room because he had a roomate. He wasn't very happy with the hotel to begin with but we decided to go ahead and stay there that way he wouldn't have to move all of his stuff to another hotel and then back again. When he made our reservation they told him that they would give him a military rate of $93 including tax per night. When we checked in I wanted to confirm the price and the lady at the front desk also told me (twice) that is was $93 including tax per night. We stayed there for 2 nights when we recieved our bill we realized that they had charged us $109 per night. I spoke with the manager and she was not helpful at all. She didn't offer me and sort of discount or refund and felt the need to disagree with me and tell me I was wrong. Previously I had worked at a hotel as front desk and our policy was the customer is always right and if anyone had a complaint we did everything we could to fix it and make it right, not at this hotel. If we would have known that it was going to be $109 we never would have stayed there! It is a very over priced! It is a very old hotel nothing fancy at all with no breakfast provided. The pool looks nice in the pictures but they don't have the floating lily pads or wooden dock, and the water is very cloudy. The maids speak no english. Before we left my 4 year old daughter wrote my husband a note and we slipped it under the door of the room he was staying in. (She is just learning how to write so it took her a long time to write it and make it really nice for him) I attemped to tell the maids about it so they wouldn't through it away. That didn't help they through it away! That was really upsetting. Don't waste your time there are a lot nicer places for cheaper to stay at in this area that are more customer friendly.

Great time for family
By SD Traveler, 8/18/10
This was a great time for the Family. We checked in on a Sunday and left on Wednesday. During the day we did all the sites (Zoo, Children Museum, Drive thru nature zoo) and at night we came back to the hotel and my 3 children had a blast in the pool. They were constantly going down the slides and playing in the water. The water level was suposed to be from 6 inches to 3 feet but the water level was a little higher than that as the water was up to the edge of the pool. Beds were comfortable and lots of space in the room for our pack and play. Floor in the room was a little dirty for our infant crawling but not bad. Will stay here again without a doubt.

Very Happy!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/29/10
ROOM: was nice the sheets, floor & bathroom where very clean. Do bring your own pillows though. Make sure that you ask for a room NOT facing the interstate. (Very loud) The beds need updated not very comfortable at all. We heard all night long the second night we stayed, our friendly upstairs neighbors. Not happy about that, but not the hotels fault! POOL: was nice for the kiddies. It goes from 3 inches to 3 feet of water, 2 slides & 1 very loud mushroom water feature. Lots of seating for those who just want to watch everyone have a good time. (Like me) When we stayed it was the weekend & no less then 40 ~ 50 people where in the pool. We really had to watch & make sure that our child was not lost in the sea of people. Not big enough for all the adults that were in the pool. Nice patio area to dry out after swimming. I saw people smoking in the patio area but not in the pool area. HOTEL STAFF: was very helpful & friendly. The maids where so very sweet & a breathe of fresh air. Not many of those around. OVERALL: I was really impressed. I am a very picky person & I hope that this review will help you when you are visiting the Omaha area! (((BTW the zoo is a must))) We got a great deal we got 2 adult tickets & 2 child tickets plus the room for a great price. I would stay here again. It was a really nice weekend & the hotel just put the cheery on top!!

Client's come first?
By BB, 5/23/09
I took my family to Omaha to see the zoo and upon our return from the zoo and after naps and dinner we went to go swimming to find a sign on the door stating that the pool will be closed for two days. I went to speak to the front desk staff about a resolution since the reason we stayed at BW was for their pool. I received $20 off my room and was advised to speak to Jeanie in the morning as she is the front desk manager. When I found Jeanie in the morning I was less then impressed. She asked me to hold on a second so she could go into the attached perkins to get cream for her coffee and was rude during our conversation. Ultimately I was looking for an apology and a deal on a future visit. I was advised by Jeanie that I already got $20 and that was "plenty." The cleaning staff were very nice as they always opened the doors for us as our arms were always filled with little children and the rooms were cleaned. The front desk manager and her staff need training on how to greet clients and service them when there is an issue. Frong desk staff should not be sitting in a chair with their feet up on the desk texting on their cell phone. I should have stayed at the new embassy suites which was only a few miles down the road.

Ant Nightmare
By Erin Ollendike, 2/8/08
We were very upset the last time we stayed at this hotel. We came back from a long day at the zoo to our floor covered in ants. I had sandles on and they literally started crawling up my legs. It was disgusting. When we told the front clerk about it she sent someone down with a vaccuum and told us the hotel was full and they had no other rooms to put us in. We were mortified and they refused to give us our money back. We've stayed there before and absolutely loved the pool and the room but we will never return to this hotel again.

I have a 4 year old and a 6 year old and they had MORE fun at the hotel pool than they had visiting the zoo! They loved the zoo (very nice zoo!!!) but they really loved the pool and slides at the hotel. Very clean, very nice stay for our family!!!!! Lots of fun for the family!

VERY Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/7/07
Hotel was advertised as having refrigerator and microwave in each of the rooms along with internet access. Cable Modem in the room did NOT work had to try 2 other cable modems and numerous network cables and spend over an hour to get it working. No refrigerator or microwave in the room and was told by the front desk gal only the two upper floors have them and they were all booked even though I reserved the room a month in advance. Back entry to hotel LOCKS at 11PM and guest can not use their Key Card to open door. Guest have to walk all the way to the front of the hotel and enter thru the lobby. Unlike other Best Western Hotels there is NO free breakfast. Workout room looked nice but was locked up like a prison at 8 AM and room key card would NOT open it. For they provide it is WAY over priced. If there isnt any where else available and you need to have a roof over your head and can spend $99, it will serve the purpose. Otherwise keep looking and find a better place for WAY Less and get alot more for your money.

Great Room with Must Swim Pool
By AaronM, 8/25/06
The standard rooms have 2 queen beds with local Cox cable service plus HBO and small fridge. DSL modem and wireless Internet were both available from my room, although somewhat slow both were functional and adequate. The rooms were quiet with good AC/Heat controls but without thermostat so it took some adjustments to get it just so. There was no noise from adjacent rooms. The only noise I noticed was chatter from the hallway, but that was few and far between. The front desk was very helpful from the begining including talking me to the hotel over the phone and moving me when my view consisted of a brick wall. I don't know if they had continental breakfast but there is a Perkins resturant adjacent to the hotel with a 10% discount to hotel guests. The drink and snack machines are affordable. The pool is terrific! If I was 20 years younger I would have had much more fun with the water slides... 1 for the little ones and 1 for those who haven't outgrown slides! Woohoo! great. The pool area also has a great spa that has lots of strong jets. Very relaxing and enjoyable. The workout room is small but functional. From here you can walk to food other than Perkins including Subway, Nebraska steakhouse, Village Inn, Arby's, Long John Silvers, etc. Wal-mart and Sam's Club are just across the freeway less then 1 mile away. The Interstate is very accessible. Overall a very good place to stay and relax in Omaha, NE.

Very nice stay
We stayed in three different places on this trip and this hotel was by far the best. It was nothing fancy, but the desk crew made sure we had a good experience. Access to the freeway was very good also. A high speed internet terminal was present in the front lobby that was nice, but the connection was subject to needing a reset every 15 minutes or so. Someone should really check that out. When we checked in, the front desk associate asked where we would like our room (close to the pool? which floor?). That was cool. After we chose one close to the pool, our first walk-in revealed an intermittent crunching sound that was probably the bearings of the air handler. The front desk associate walked down with us to check it out, agreed and found us a better room. However, the crunching didn't get fixed during our next two days. I hope no one had to stay close to it. The pool was great for the kids. There's a virtual lilly pad of activity, with a waterfall, so it gets kind of loud. There's no diving possible in the 3 feet of water and not much swimming possible either. But it's the best kiddie pool area I have ever seen, for the little ones. The hot tub was shut down, which is sadly the case at half the places we stay. Are these things just atrocious for repairs or what? The adjoining breakfast at Perkins is nice, but on our trip our kids couldn't get their free dessert crazy cookies (half sugar cookie/half chocolate chip) because "the cook didn't show up today" and we were informed that "no substitutions are allowed". Not a great example of customer service. Further, that comment kind of made us wonder about the original breakfast items: were they all just microwaved? However, the Perkins experience shouldn't reflect badly on the Best Western, where our stay was terrific thanks to the individuals working there.
