The Kandahar Lodge is only 18 miles from the airport. The area offers scenic beauty, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and boating. Winter brings skiing, snowmobile, ice skating and dog sledding.In the winter, Kandahar Lodge has a convenient ski-in location. In the summer, it serves as a base camp to access Glacier Park and other summer recreation in the area. The Lodge has a lovely lobby with a large river rock fireplace and is decorated with antique furniture and fine art. Coffee is available in the Lobby in the morning and, during the ski season, cookies and cider are set out in the afternoon. Cafe Kandahar provides a buffet breakfast and gourmet dining with an extensive wine list. The Snug Bar opens in the evening to serve guests in the lobby and cafe. Guests enjoy the large outdoor hot tub, steam room, exercise room and massage area. A small conference room is available for meetings of 50 or less.The 50 rooms of the Lodge are located in two wings on three floors and have queen beds with down comforters, microwaves, small refrigerators and air-conditioning. We stayed in a two room suite (studio with an adjoining room). The service was excellent! The people at the front desk were so friendly and helpful. Our suite was beautiful and very clean! The beds were incredibly comfortable. The hot tub was very reaxing after a day hiking in Glacier. The restaurant menu looked a bit pricey (we were paying for 6 people) and not especially kid friendly so we ate in Whitefish. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

We made reservations based on the web site, including the cafe menu. My visa was charged a full 3 weeks before check in, and the cafe was not even open for the 2007 summer season. Buyer beware is all I can say.

Food is Fantastic

Chef Andy is fantastic. Try the Cafe Kandahar and experience the most fantastic and exoitic New Orleans style food. If you like wine you will surely enjoy having a variety like you have never seen before to choose from. The atmosphere is so romantic and the value for the dollar is most exceptional. Your vacation or romantic get away will not be complete without a night spent in this fabulous lodge.

Wow, would love to go back!

Terrific! Relaxing rooms, great and I mean GREAT beds...the kind that it is hard to get out of. Four star restaurant in house that serves elk, buffalo, along with traditional fare. A really neat "Snug bar" with an unforgettable bartender. And the views are breathtaking. You can see all of Whitefish Lake on the road up. They have a wonderful fitness center, with sauna and hot tub. And did I mention the views?

Would go back tomorow

The lodge was so perfect from check -in to the rooms. The spa area was exceptionally clean and great. The Breakfast and Dinners were beautifully presented and totally taste wise lived up to expectations. The small Bar was cozy and offered great service. Would recommend to anyone looking for a luxury treat.

Kandahar, The Lodge at Big Mountain

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The Lodge decor and amenites exceed my expectations. The Lodge is in a great location for ski-in & ski-out access in the winter and a mountain setting in the summer.
