Cheap sleep
I paid $32 a night for a "top of the line"room with microwave and refrigerator. The price undercuts the other places in town.
The rooms here don't always attract the kindler, gentler clientele and it shows. There are dings here and there, the microwave in my room smells of a past guest's plastic melt down. The fridge was mildewy because it had been unplugged, but it cleaned up well with some hand wipes from my travel kit. (I went over door knobs, the TV remote, phone -- anything I was gonna touch). The carpet is well vacuumed, the bathroom is "clean enough." The mattress is comfortable.
The Motel 6 in Jefferson City is pet friendly. There is no swimming pool. Parking is plentiful, even if you have a big ol' trailer truck or bus.
Bring your own toiletries, cups, and maybe some Febreeze. Soap is provided. There is an ice machine, but you will need to bring something to catch the ice. (I used large baggie.) The fridge is good -- and has a separate freezer compartment. The TV has cable and 17 channels including HBO and ESPN. The doors have key locks, deadbolts and security latches. Entrance to rooms is from inside corridors with key cards. The staff is overworked but uniformly friendly. Coffee is served in the lobby from 6 - 9 AM (bring your own creamer.) There is a grocery about half a mile up the road. A Country Kitchen restaurant is next door, serving breakfast (and other meals) 24/7.
Phones have data ports and local calls are free.
It ain't the Ritz -- it ain't even the Red Roof Inn -- but if your main concern is a clean (enough), comfortable bed at a bargain, I recommend the Motel 6.
