What you should know about the Daniele
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/07
The ONLY good thing about this hotel is the location. It's too bad, really. If someone who knew something about hotel management would take over... this could be one of the most popular places around. Dirty, no air conditioning (it was 100 degrees and I am not exaggerating!)and extremely rude staff! We were told there was a hotel car when booking the reservation. Then, when we tried to book the hotel car for trips around the area, we were told that the hotel car was only available on Wendesday evening. This was very embarassing for our client. We will not use the hotel for ANY business you value.

Not so sure
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/20/07
Our room was double-booked. There was remodeling going on, and our suite's electrical outlets did not work. We had to rig up extension cords to watch TV. Radio did not work. There were space heaters in the rooms. The customer service was lacking. The best thing about this hotel? We got our money back!

Mixed, very mixed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/27/06
I can see why people who like small older hotels like it, the lobby is charming, location good. I do agree that the hallways are sort of old and battered, but that didn't bother me. Room seemed okay, nothing special. I came into the room and the window was open (it was pretty cold out). After I closed it I noticed I could not adjust the heating and it was really very stifling and hot. I mentioned this to the check out person, sayiing that the knobs were off the heater. At first she just sort of said something like "Uh huh" I then asked if they were that way in all the rooms and she proceeded to explain that it was an old heating system and it was on either air conditioning or heat, no adjustments. She could have been a bit more forthright right from the start. Anyway, I've decided I'm more of a La Quinta or Hampton Inn kind of gal.

A complete 180!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/06
WOW! As a loyal traveler, I always prefer to stay at the Daniele. I've seen it through good times (the '80s) and bad times (the '90s). Upon my return visit in September '06, I can honestly say that it's never been better. The staff is attentive and extremely helpful and the rooms look like they've received some repairs recently. It is amazing that more people don't know about the Daniele. It is truly a one of a kind experience and there is simply nothing like it in the St. Louis market with regard to overall value.

A real gem!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/16/06
The Daniele Hotel is a gem of a hotel -- lots of old world charm and amenities. The food in The Daniele Hotel restaurant is excellent and the whole dining experience is most pleasurable. The dark wood paneling is so classy! We always put our guests up at The Daniele Hotel when they come to St. Louis and they love the place. Our guests have never been disappointed! We eat there often year round!!

Pleasant Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/6/06
The Daniele Hotel reminded me of a bed and breakfast. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I loved the wall paper and the unique touches- ceramic figurines were on the desk. I liked how the front desk staff addressed me by name and asked how I was. The fitness center had the equipment I use back home. The room service was delivered promptly and the food was very good. I had no problem staying here and I will return.

STAY AWAY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/11/06
The staff acted as if they didn't have a clue. The head of house cleaning had more professional sense to her than the "GM", if you want to call him that. As far as the rooms......lets just say they need a face lift. If you want a hotel that is run down and no people for the "low price" of $129 - GO FOR IT! I'd rather sleep in my car and eat take out.

We always stay at the Danielle
By Peggy, 12/15/05
The scale is comfortable - I like the intimacy of this hotel better than the "chain" hotels. The staff Has always been helpful and cheerful. I have stayed here a half dozen times over the past two years (my daughter attends a nearby university)and I love this place. Within walking distance to several good restaurants - convenient to Forest Park and good shopping - and I like eating breakfast in their restaurant.
