Great hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/18/11
The looking rooms rooms are great with flat screen TV's, new carpet, bedding, furniture. Hotel was clean and staff were very nice. Free breakfast and parking included with the rate. Great location to Mayo and attached to the subway system so you do not have to go outside during the rain. Will return

RE: Convenient but filthy;
By happyjoyful, 4/28/11
The best thing about Kahler is the proximinty to Mayo. The worst things are: 1) dirty rooms, especially for those with dogs. Those with dogs are given the old rooms with old mattresses, old pillows and sticky carpeting....with a $100 non-refundable fee. 2) smelly rooms and hallways. We looked at three rooms before choosing the least offensive, which still had a puddle on the floor from a leaking window. 3) lack of care by staff ("oh, your window leaks and the floor is wet? Well, thanks for telling us") 4) respectable free breakfast but dirty restaurant. This hotel's renovated sections are fine but we were bumped to the 'dog area' which is truly awful. The cleaning staff is terrible. I am still here and just came down our hallway to see dirty Q-Tips and trash on the floor outside our room. Unacceptable. Go elsewhere. Every hotel has a shuttle to Mayo. If the rates were $50 maybe, but our rates were $115 per night!

1ST TIME--WORST TIME, What a dissappointment!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/12/11
I expected more from the Kahler name. The bedding was not of high quality and the room was dusty. And even more so stuffy. The toilet needed to be flushed at least 3 times before the little bit of contents in the bowl would flush down. My room, the hallway, everything just made me feel ill. For once I wanted to stay close to the Mayo Clinic (I've been a patient for 20 years) and by choosing the Kahler (based on the brand and reputation) I made myself sicker than when I arrived! I couldn't wait to get home and wash all my clothes and take a long hot shower to clean the scummy, dirty feeling off my body. The Kahler Inn and Suites should be ashamed of themselves for disgracing an instituion such as the Kahler name. I would advise them to clean up their act and for you to select another hotal when you stay in Rochester, MN.

Going downhill
By Nick, 9/9/10
Well, this is my 7th time staying at the Kahler Inn & Suites. I think it will be my last. I usually choose Kahler for it's closeness to Mayo Clinic and it's decent prices. This time the price would have to be nearly free for me to feel I got fair value. The staff as always was very courteous and of course the location did not change, those are the good things. Negatives include; a shower nozzle that sprayed more water out it's side then where it is supposed to, a defective fan in the bathroom, a defective remote for the tv(which ended up being replaced), a phone that was not even attached to the outlet, dirty silverware, and last, but, definitely not least, there was a BAT in my room! No I did not misspell that, a bat, hanging from the window curtains. How did it even get it??

I can only say "feh!"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/29/09
Comments: Room---Coffee and ice bucket trays were dirty. Coffee maker was stained, and the coffee tasted awful. Coffee carafe was like a dribble glass to pour. Hair dryer was loose on the wall and tilted. The channel changer button stuck each time I pressed it. The desk chair was dirty and dusty. The chair next to the bed was broken and useless. The door did not close on its own, I had to give it a hard push every time I went in or out. 9th Floor---It felt like I was staying in an attic. No ice machine, and the 8th floor ice machine was broken. Carpets stained. Ceiling-high towel carts all over the hall. Every other floor had 3 elevators, 9th only has one. Front Desk---There was often no answer on the phone. I also observed front desk personnel talking to others and letting the phone ring off the hook. When I checked out, the clerk did my paperwork and then just moved on to another guest without a word to me. When she saw I was still standing there, she dismissed me by telling me I wasn’t getting any paperwork. Then she turned away again. Café---It smelled bad in the café. The seats and tables were dirty with crumbs. The waitress had a blaring voice that could break glass. There seemed to be no air conditioning. Staff communicated with each other often by yelling between the kitchen and dining room. The café was only open certain days and times. I will never stay here again, and I will warn others to avoid this hotel. Feh!

Our usual motel at Mayo
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/08
Not the greatest place in the world, but extremely convenient to Mayo Clinic through the subway and decent price. Horrible breakfast, lacks adequate parking, beds are too hard and bedding is old, rooms are old and dusty. Plenty of hot water and lots of room, extremely friendly and helpful staff.

Changed Rate on Me
By TJ, 7/28/08
t was a busy week so they charged me more than when I booked the room. I am sure I had not made a mistake as I had written down who I spoke to and the exact room info. Room was just OK, not worth the inflated price. Staff better at other nearby hotels.

Not a good experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/23/07
The good thing about our experience at the Kahler Inn and Suites is that it was close to the Mayo Clinic. Less than pleasureable experiences: the key card failed to work, the hot tub was surrounded with old, gooey band-aids and other garbage, the pool was only 3 feet deep, they have an inadequate amount of parking, small hot tub, terrible breakfast including gloppy oatmeal and a bowl of rotten oranges, and last but not least, an overflowing toilet that they did not send anyone to fix (After we left I assume they dealt with it). I talked to someone at the front desk who said, "Oh, that's too bad." I e-mailed the company and received no reply. We're going to Rochester again next month and we will not be staying at the Kahler Inn and Suites.

searching for comfort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/10/06
The beds were too hard!!! Not easy for people with disabilities to maneuver in the suite. The parking ramp is horrific! Little things like no decaf in the room and definatley no other extras. However, when we did ask an employee for decaf & a few other items, she was very helpful. We won't stay again because of the beds and parking ramp.
