MOLD
By Nicole, 7/29/09
We stayed in one of the non smoking rooms, as soon as I walked in I smelled mold, and I am terribly allergic. We found the mold in the closet ceiling. My inlaws had a room upstairs and the ceiling was beginning to cave a little. Our room had trash on the floor, and I was appauled that someone would allow someone with an infant to stay in that room, when the smell of mold was very evident. We ended up staying at the Holliday in and we loved it.

Okay for a place to sleep and to see fall colors
By Me, 10/6/08
The hotel is old. It is Not updated. Rooms are clean but the bathrooms have no fan. The bathroom shower hot water goes from really hot to really cold. Parking was not an issue but the lot does fill up fast. It is in walking distance to everything. For a place to sleep it works. Walls are paper thin and we experienced some party type people at 3AM in the morning that forgot about other hotel guests!

Great deal!
By Christine, 7/7/07
I was completely satisfied with my stay here. Price was good. Service was good. Bed was really comfortable. Extra pillows and blankets in the dresser in case you needed them. Breakfast was fresh and had decent choices. The room was clean, and everything worked. They also had a computer in the breakfast/lobby area for customers to use. The location was close to everything, but I didn't have to pay what it costs to stay right on the lake. (It's about 6 blocks to Canal Park and Lake Superior.) People have commented on the parking lot, and it is kind of unusual. It's probably the best layout they could have, considering the location and motel layout. They do have 2 smaller alternate parking areas in the back if you don't want to park on a slant. Park there, walk across the alley, and your room card lets you in on the 2nd floor. I would definitely stay at this motel again!

Downtown Best Western Hotel getting make-over
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/21/05
We have stayed at this hotel over several years. It has best value for the money, and they are working hard to update the rooms and have better housekeeping.

Never again.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/11/05
Non-smoking room smelled gross like smoke and pee. Stains everywhere in halls and in room. "Body hair" on the blankets. Discusting. We paid around $70/night because of the weekend and it was worth about $35. Also, there wasn't enough room in the parking lot so we had to park behind the hotel.

Lots of noise, with nobody who would take our complaints seriously.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/04
Lots of noise from neighbouring rooms (sounded like a bunch of rowdy hockey players), when confronted about these problems the following morning (because we couldn't reach anyone about the problems at night), the front desk had a "like it or lump it" attitude about our stay.
