Paper thin walls, rowdy guests
By Elizabeth, 11/18/08
When we weren't being awakened by the hourly train whistles and the clanging water pipes, a crowd of drunken 20-somethings from a wedding reception partying in the hallways after 1:30am kept us alert. Morning desk clerk found this somewhat amusing, said they were moved to a banquet room, but no mention of a discount for us. Will opt for a quieter night at a B&B in town next visit.

Escapism at it's finest
By kharma_man, 05/22/07
I love the atmosphere in this quaint old hotel - bed and breakfast. I wouldn't want to stay in the smaller rooms, but the rooms with the jacuzzi and the view are awesome, and the little bar downstairs dripped with 'a getaway from all your troubles' attitude. I would recommend it to any true romantic....and hey, don't spend your time watching TV!

I did not like the holes in the walls, when we stayed there they actually had a fire in the building everyone had to evacuate! It was awful!!!

Best Hotel in Northfield
By Brandon, 04/03/06
For time immemorial, the Archer House has been a pillar of the Northfield community having served not only tens of thousands of guests over the years, it has also served as one of this town’s most prominent icons. Situated perfectly in downtown Northfield, it is a two minute walk away from Carleton College and their rooms offer a gorgeous view of the Cannon River. The interiors are sometimes elegant and sometimes impressive as every room in the establishments boasts of a unique decoration and design. Additionally, the staff was extremely courteous and made me feel at home and, most importantly, a part of their home. Overall, the Archer House is a picturesque hotel which offers exceptional value and an extraordinary experience.
