New Years Eve 2009
By William, 01/31/10
At 3 am there was a horrible fight in the hall outside our room. At 3:30 am a man was pounding on our room door looking for Fred. He was not in our room. You could not get a cup of coffee in the place. At 9am in the morning on January 1, 2010 the front desk people had to send someone out for drinks for them. Stay somewhere else.

Never Again!
By Karen, 12/18/09
The service at the St. Regis was horribel I even witnessed a supervisior putting down a valet person for something unrelated to his job! It was very unprofessional to do that in front on us patrons. I tipped the youngman largely, because i thought he handled himself well in light of how he was treated. I tried to make a citizens' report to management about the incidence, but management has yet to respond. I guess they condone that kind of thing, UNPROFESSIONALISM!! I also came home with bed bug bites on my body and had to have my things fumigated, again, with no response from management! Could be a first rate hotel with proper management. I will spread the word to go to another hotel for better service for the money they charge!

Mrs. Izzy
By Vanessa, 11/18/09
This is a really nice Hotel, however, the service is less than stellar. It's a shame because it could be a top Hotel, but it's evident that the worker's are not vested. I had to use a wheel chair to take my baggage to the room. The valet person, nor the desk person offered to help. The desk person just turned her head and didn't acknowledge me. The maid service stopped by at 10:30 and when we told her we would be out shortly she stated her shift ended at 12 noon. So we opted for fresh towels and no service. Beautiful decor, recently updated and very comfortable beds. It was a little noisy on Sat. night due to a party going on. When they renovated, they should have done something about the acoustics. But I went to the Party so I won't complain about that. On friday there were no noise problems, so I'm sure it is fine as long as no partys are going on. If you go, try the resturaunt across the street The Victory Center (?) - they have the BEST Breakfast you can find in Detroit. Once again IF the Hotel can find some workers that are service oriented this could truly be a hidden jewel in the heart of Detroit.

Never again
By Sharon, 10/19/09
I stayed at St Regis for two weeks in Oct 2009. The bed was comfortable and so were the pillows. The room should have been cleaner. They changed the bedding every three days. They did not refill the shampoo and conditioner. Never any in room coffee, never any kleenex, no free dvd rentals, no free newspaper. The restaurant and bar was deserted, too afraid to eat any of the food. The elevator made very strange noises that woke me up at all hours of the night. And the best part, had to ask for toilet paper at the front desk, and their replie was, "Do you need it right away"!! I could not beleive it. I'm sure it was beautiful in it's day, but the management needs a total overhaul. One could clearly see they were operating on a bare bones budget. The only positive was the location, across the street from my training. Will not recommend this to anyone.

Nice place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/09
I came to Detroit for business at a place in New Center. Since the Inn at Ferry St (also a nice place) was not my type, I opted for the St. Regis. I did not regret it: friendly staff, shuttle service to downtown, clean room, iPod alarm clock, good food, quiet at night... Overall, a nice experience; consider it to visits to Tech Town or the Henry Ford Hospital

Wast of Money
By Ryan, 07/27/09
To start our experience we learned that the hotel has no parking and you must pay them $15 per night for valet parking; so keep that in mind. The people working there are obviously not thrilled to be there and it shows. It is a nice building but could use some work. The carpet in our room was wet for some reason by the window, the remote for the TV only had certain buttons that worked, and our door did not shut and latch correctly. To end our experience we received a wake up call at 5:45 AM that we did not ask for. Sleeping in was not an option, but I suppose that was a good thing because it got us out of there early. This hotel is not worth the money they want and I now understand why the place looks completely deserted. I had much better experience at a Motel 8 the night before for less money, better service, and an overall nicer environment. I recommend you find somewhere else to stay.

NEVER AGAIN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/10/09
First off they charge you for valet parking which is just behind the hotel but you are not permitted to park your car there, they must do it for a very expensive fee. No ice, no salt and pepper on the room service, no fork, no coffee in the room for two days and when I requested some they brought something that wouldn't work in the coffee machine. Restraurant was less than adequate, no wine list...I was informed they serve white and red. No wine list was available. Room was clean but that is the only positive thing to say about this hotel.

Excellent Character and Service!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/21/09
If you like the look and feel of wealth without the price, you'll love the Hotel St. Regis! I feel like this is just another one of Detroit's hidden treasures, and it need more marketing and publicizing. I enjoyed the food and service.
