Holiday Inn West, Kalamazoo

I don't know where that other person stayed who gave a bad review, but there is no smoking in this hotel. The beds are very comfortable, and the rooms are kept very clean. All staff is very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is outdated, worn, smoke-filled and unsafe for children. Hands down the WORST hotel I have ever been in. Holidome was filled with children there for a birthday party (not guests of the hotel locals renting the Holidome) imagine 50-60 children in a pool area with 1-2 adults supervising the party. Very unsafe. Public bathroom in Holidome filled with mildew, bugs and mold EXTREMELY unsanitary. Room was loud due to the noise from the Holidome both late at night and early in the AM. Mold in our bathroom, dirty bathtub with blood spots on it. Staff was unseen and unconcerned about complete chaos in Holidome as well as filthy public restrooms.

Even though I was only at the Holiday Inn West for one night, it felt like I was family. From the moment the front door attendent greeted me and held open the door, I knew I was in for a great stay. The front desk people were more courteous than average, and more importantly much faster than the average front desk worker at getting me checked in. The room was average size for a Holiday Inn room, but the bedding was definetly a step up from what I've been accustomed too. I didn't get a chance to use the pool, but it looked huge and very clean. All in all I would say that this hotel has the nicest staff I've ever met, has a great location right off the highway, and has more amenities than I had time to take advantage of. Definetly the best value for a hotel in Kalamazoo!!
