Hilton Grand Rapids Airport, Grand Rapids

Although accommodations were comfortable, and mostly clean we were staying at this Hilton as part of a hockey tournament for my son. It was recommended by the tournament organizers. The age group for the players was 7-8 years old. We were booked as a block of 15 rooms.The hotel security was a little over zealous.They patroled the halls like police officials and seemed to be lurking around corners. At 8:15 PM were told we could not stand as groups in the hallways outside our rooms because it was "quiet time". I felt like as an adult supervising my child in the hall as he was bouncing from room to room to play with his friends I was being treated as a child sent to bed. They were polite but unwavering. Guess we should have known when we were required to sign a noise waiver that stated we would be fined $75 for noise infractions. We were offered a small (uncleaned) banquet room( first for $100 then for free when we declined the $100) for a pizza party for one hour, but could not bring our own beverages. We had to buy from their bar. Overheard cleaning staff complaining outside the door of the pool area she couldn't keep the windows clean from all the kids fingerprints. Really? In short, I understand they are running a business and are typically catering to business class. Great. So, don't offer your rooms as blocks to parties as ours. We stayed at a Courtyard by Marriott last winter and the kids and parents had a MUCH better time because they let the kids be kids. They knew what the group would be like and were welcoming and flexible. Won't recommend this hotel to any group at our arena for future tournaments. There are other hotels to choose from in the area.

It was a nice place to stay. Nice goose down pillows and comfy bed. It was clean and well kept. It also had a great indor pool

My room was hotter than a sauna, and I was told to reset air, and deal with it. My comforter which was white and looked very luxurious, was covered with what looked to be syrup, or something brown and gritty, and so after putting it on the floor with my and my daughters wet towels so that it would be cleaned I returned to my room to find that the maid had just put it across the room, back on my bed, wet and dirty. How nasty. I called down for a new one, and was told they were out of blankets... wow, in a big hotel, no blanket, good thing my room was still a sauna and I did not need to have it. I requested new bedding, since the dirty blanket had laid on my sheets, so someone brought me new ones and handed them to me and walked away saying, man your room is hot. Nice, really nice. I went to the desk and demanded a different room, and was moved across the hall, where go figure, the air did not work either, at lease I had a clean blanket to sleep on. Just awful!!!! Thanks

They're announcing that there is remodeling going on but I didn't see it. Great indoor pool, sauna, work-out room. An inviting entrance with fireplace has coffee urns for you in the morning. Coffee is just warm. The beds have pillowtop mattresses and down comforters...which you may really need in the winter. I never got the room warm enough to be comfortable in less than shoes, pants and a sweater. The bathroom is small but nice. Lighting would be an issue for a female and makeup. It's situated quite nicely for the airport and parking is all around the building so chances of parking at an alternative entrance is good.

nice hotel, good food, friendly staff...we really enjoyed our stay....a hotel full of kids and it was very quiet...also movies were not too over price...we will stay again if we go to grand rapids again next year....
