Nightmare
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/09
Where should I start. I checked in and asked for a non smoking room, however, ended up with smoking. Moved to another room. Walked in and there were dirty towels on the bed, dirty bed sheets and toothpaste in the sink. I then was moved to a higher floor. Smoking room next to me that penetrated the air duct to my room, lounge music below me, roaches on the floor. Ordered two eggs over easy and they were well done, forgot shampoo for the room and on top of it all, charged me $12.95 per night for internet access (slow speed). I gotta tell you, I have been a Hyatt Gold Passport member for two decades and have never seen anything this bad. This will be my last.

Great Now...
By David, 02/09/09
Previous reviews may have reflected construction. My wife, 2 kids (3 years and 8 months) and I found the staff very friendly. Even the cleaning staff always said hello and double checked when we said we didn't want our room cleaned (Kids!). Open areas, piano bar, fast elevators, good breakfast buffet (20$/person -- get it included if you can). Doormen friendly and always helpful with getting a taxi. We check out at 4:30 in the AM and had a cab in 2 minutes of getting downstairs. Only negatives: no airport shuttle and not within walking distance of much. This was a good choice, even during a busy conference. Any previous bad reviews should give this place another shot before the price goes up. But I'm the type of person that stays in lower end range hotels. But this is not my first time in an upper end either. Nice place.

Avoid this place if you can!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/03/08
We recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge. Besides the comfortable bed and nice work out facilities, the rest of our experience was disappointing. This hotel is not a good value for the price. Rooms and overall property is not as nice as it appears in the pictures. Restaurant is overpriced, service slow, and food mediocre. This is made worse by the fact that the resaurant is the only dining option within a 2 mile radius. With no refridgerator or microwave in the room, this means a cab ride averaging $15-20 each-way for every meal. Although the conference we attended at this property was good, we would stay elsewhere and take a cab to the conference in the future, rather than feeling captive at this inconveniently located property.

Needs an attitude ajustment
By leslie, 04/22/08
I could go on and on about our stay but I'll keep it short. First off the positives - The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever experienced. Our well priced breakfast buffet was delicious and had a vast array to choose from, even shrimp and crab legs! The fitness center equipment was excellent. Wonderful sauna and steamroom (if you could navigate through the mess in the lockerroom to get to them!) Nice quality toiletries that were replaced each day. The bad - Unfriendly, uncaring, uninformed, indifferent staff (with the exception of the doorman we met at check out who was wonderful; so pleasant, nice and helpful.) Despite a supposed recent property facelift it was shabby and run down looking in both the lobby as well as the rooms. Lip marks were present on the drinking glasses in the room - thank goodness for the paper cups supplied as ordering clean ones from room service showed a charge in the hotel inroom guide. Though clean, the bathroom was worn and rusty and had broken fixtures. Our order of 2 items from room service, ordered a certain way because of a food allergy, came up to us completely wrong - though it was remedied quite quickly at no extra charge. The pool was dirty and the locker rooms were dirty, unkept, lacked amenities like baskets for used towels so they were dropped all over the floor, shower soap dispensers were empty, toilets were out of toliet paper. The fitness area as well as the lockerroom had no towels. The pool area did have towels but they ran out and were never replenished (they were like sand paper anyway). Everytime I was in the locker room the shower curtins were in a heap on the floor. There was non-working whirlpool (for 7 months) even though website listed it was an amenity. Unattended fitness/pool desk area allowed chaos to rule and made it hard to book spa services...which we decided not to get because of previously mentioned experience in the health club area. There were no amenities like robes in the rooms, no inroom safe, no minibar. No coffee/tea in the lobby or fitness area in the morning. For a hotel of this price and level I expected these kinds of things. Bottomline this hotel is not worth the price. With so many other choices in the area, not worth ANY price! We'll never go back and based on the attitude we got from Hyatt after our trip when we tried to voice our opinion we will not be choosing any Hyatt properties!!

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/17/08
The hotel does offer a great view of Boston from across the river. Beds are very comfortable. These are the pluses. Location makes it very difficult to walk to any resturants leaving only the hotel resturant. If the hotel is busy prepare to not eat or eat very late. No coffee in the morning unless you buy it. Rooms were small. I was unhappy with a general lack of cleanliness as were my co-workers. There was what looked like a bloody handprint on the wall. For the sprinkler, a hole was cut in the ceiling and the sprinkler came down through with no cover. When I return to the Boston area I will look for alternatives for my hotel.

awful place, don't stay here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/31/08
i was so excited to stay here, the location is amazing, but it was an awful experience. the staff was rude and unfriendly. the rooms weren't clean. the worst part, they had me park my car in valet parking and when i returned, i saw they had parked a car within centimeters from my passenger side. i knew there was no way they could have parked and got out of the car without hitting my side door, and sure enough, there is a huge dent from where the door of the car hit mine (and white paint to prove it). all thanks to the careless, incompetent valet staff. i'll never return, there are far better, nicer places around, try the doubletree across the river, it's great.

Food is great!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/28/07
We recently spent the Head of the Charles weekend at this hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable & the restaurant food and restaurant staff were terrific - not at all what I expected. They have several buffets throughout the weekend - Friday seafood, Saturday & Sunday breakfast & Sunday brunch - we never had to leave the hotel to find a restaurant which would have been a challenge in the area where the hotel is located. The hotel has a beautiful view of Boston & the Charles River, but is not convenient to any T stop, so be prepared to spend money on cabs. The shuttle service advertised is not really available very much & needs to be arranged far in advance of your needing it. We found the concierge staff to be condescending, but everyone else was great. We would stay at this hotel again.

Good value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/12/07
Excellent value with priceline, sometime even cheap. I've stayed here about 12 times since Jan. 1st. The rooms are excellent. Only drawback is that parking is expensive and it is not near a T-stop. There is a shuttle van, but you have to request it early in the morning, and there is limited service. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Incredible......
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/07
We stayed this hotel for 3 nights. The first day, We arrived there at around 11pm. There were only 2 front desk officers. That's ok. I can understand, because it was late night. But one of the lady whose attitude to us were seems like a cheap fast food clerk. And I don't know why, even though we had reservation, they forget our reservation everyday, so I had to make sure we stay here tonight EVERY DAY! The most awful day, after we came back from wonderful Boston sightseeing, we were trying to come in OUR room, but it was looked. And I went to the front desk, but they thought we already check out! That was impossible because WE DEFINITELY had a reservation for that night. They cannot keep customer’s booking. Besides, their attitude was also incredible. One front desk lady and security guy seems like gangsters lather than Hyatt front desk. They never apologized to me at that night. Fortunately, the next morning a manager apologized to me and they reduced the price for the night. I have never experienced this like situation before. Especially, this level hotels. I recommend you to stay other Hyatt.
