Low-Income Housing
We've been staying at this hotel off and on for the last 6 years when we visit family in the area. When it was a Ramada, it was beautiful and well kept. Since Holiday Inn took over, it's been a fast decline. The furniture and carpet haven't been updated or repaired during this time, and the building has obviously been ignored also. Our most recent room had a crack in the wall of the shower, a cracked sink, a toilet tank lid which had been replaced with a cheap plastic piece, wallpaper hanging loose, and a heater with buttons which often wouldn't work without some "jimmying". The lobby of the hotel was nice, but the other entrances were dingy and usually had over-flowing trash cans. At the first enterance we were sent to after we checked in, we had to wade through all the smokers hanging around outside the bar. We found out from our local family that the hotel is being used by the state as housing for low-income families, and we noticed several families who appeared to be living in the rooms near us. This didn't bother us, but I'm sure that the state is paying neither the rate that we got through Hotwire nor the regular rate. Based on the current condition of the hotel and the new "apartment" status, I feel it should be at most a 2 star rated facility. On the up-side, the housekeeping was good except that they would leave us coffee and set-ups one day and then skip them the next.
If you're offered a three star hotel in Brockton through Hotwire, this is the one; and you might want to skip it.
