I hope this place blows up
By Lis, 3/15/11
I could care less if this place blew up with the management still inside the building. They are not accommodating when the mess up is their own fault. The "manager" wouldn't speak with me and the puppet behind the desk was an idiot. Usually people who run hotels either have studied hospitality or know a little about it. Here, I don't think they even know their left from their right hand. To avoid a headache and a ruined night, go someplace else.

nightmare in holyoke!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/4/11
first off people should be told they house the homeless there and they run the hotel.. as a paying customer traveling with my special needs child who is 8 we tried the game room which was nothing more then broken down crap.. tried to use the pool only to find it over run by the homeless people who had children that were unruly spitting swearing and being aggresive with everyone in the pool... when i complained i was told go to my room and someone would get back to me.. never happened... after seeing the school bus drop children off i asked if they housed the homeless. and was told yes when i later called to complain to the manager he LIED and said these were not homeless but people who were down on their luck... in other words homeless!!! i could give a fig if they were homeless but they took over the entire hotel and no one else could enjoy the amenities that they are PAYING for. there were people in the hallways slamming doors at all hours and as a mother traveling alone with a small child i didnt feel safe in this hotel... it was a terrifying experience and the hotel management does nothing about what is going on in this hotel.. when i asked for the owners address to write them he gave me the hotels address... like i would trust a man who had lied to me through out our conversation.. when i asked for a different address to write the owners he refused me the right to complain to the owners. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL its one scary place/

Would Never Recommend
By rbca, 10/1/10
An organization where I serve as a board member held a function at this hotel, thinking it was the best function space for the price. The catering staff--when you could find them--were rude. The evening manager was disrespectful--even hostile. We wrote a letter of complaint to the manager who never responded. We weren't even asking for our money back. Just an apology. Never got it.

Nice, Tolerant, and misleading.
By safiya p, 8/6/09
I traveled to MA with my mother and my 4 small children for a family reunion. Although I reserved the room too late for the discounted family reuinon price, the lady at the front desk gave me the discount anyway, which was awesome. Our room was a tiny bit cramped due to the size of my family and the size of the room. It was a little frustrating but easy to get used to. Ordering room service was a hassel because it was from Friendly's and they would not allow me to use a coupon. Also, I was jipped by the Friendly's and recieved HORRIBLE service from the morning crew. They did not get my order right and did not give me the drinks for the kids meals. The other staffers on different shifts were great though. The people who work at this hotel are very friendly and helpful, except for Allison. She supposedly is the manager, but did not return my call like she said she would when I was trying to re-arrange my booking dates before I came. She lacked customer service skills in person as well. Also, on their website, they claim to have a courtesy van that will take u whereever you want to go within a 2 mile limit. what they WONT tell you is that they are only available during events. Get all the ciggs, snacks and other goods before you come because the stores surrounding the hotel jack up all of the prices. Parking is high also. Overall a good hotel but for the price it should be a bit better. And the other hotel go-ers are very friendly and tolerant of noisy children. They also advertise their game room but it is not big enough and they have nothing for xhildren to do,really. Love the workers & the people, not the hotel.

I don't need much! Refrigerator, microwave!
When on government travel, I don't need much in a hotel. However, I would like to be able to prepare a light breakfast for myself. I always try to get an early start. I just want to be able to make a hot breakfast for myself in the room. If I am going to be away from home for three weeks, I would like to have a microwave and refrigerator in my room. I have asked for one and there is none available. There isn't even a microwave in a lobby somewhere. A little thing like a refrigerator and microwave makes all the difference for me. I don't want to have to go out for every meal. The breakfast and other meals avalable are not deal. I don't need much.

very disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/3/08
This is one hotel that I don't think I'll go back to. My group had rented about fifteen rooms which were all located next to each other. About eight of us were in the hallway talking (it was 10:00 on a Saturday night)when the hotel staff asked us to find another place to go to socialize. Nobody would have complained because all of the rooms around us belonged to our group. When we asked if there was a conference/meeting room available that we could rent, we were told that there were none. We could go down to the pool area or to the lobby, but we couldn't bring our own beverages. The hotel bar was suggested, that way we could purchase our own drinks. We were more than willing to accommodate our less than accommodating hotel manager, and procceeded to go down to the hotel bar, which was located directly across from the lobby. At the time, the lobby was being occupied by another group, which was drinking their own beverages, directly in view of the very same hotel manager. I was surprised the next morning that the hotel staff was having a very loud conversation at 6:30 a.m. while pushing the very noisy breakfast carts along the tile floor directly outside my room. The manager was so concerned the night before that the ten o'clock conversation we were having the night before was disrupting the other guests' sleep. (We were truly not being disruptive.) Apparently, 6:30 on a Sunday morning is a much better time for conversing with friends. The rooms were not the cleanest that I've stayed in. There were crumbs and pieces of popcorn along the walls. There was no closet door. The beds were very small and uncomfortable. (Two full size beds for myself, my husband, and my 12 and 10 year old sons. It was a tight squeeze for all.) The shower was terrible. The shower head had become separated from the wall, and the water came out in not much more than a trickle. As soon as I turned the cold water on to adjust the temperature, the water became ice cold, and the only way that I could figure out to get it warm again was to turn both off and just turn the hot water on again. The toilets wouldn't flush properly, either. You had to hold the handle down for several seconds to get it to flush completely.

Give it another 6 months...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/28/07
We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Holyoke as an alternative to driving all the way back to the Boston area after the James Taylor concert in Lenox, MA. We are on a tight budget and Lenox accommodations were out of our reach, so we "pricelined" and got the Holiday Inn. It was posted as a 3 star hotel and I think that in another 6 months, it may be...but steer clear now...it is under some serious construction. First off, the hallways had a very pungent odor that was reminiscent of body odor and ammonia. The wallpaper in the hallway was in the process of being stripped. Our room had holes in the wall much like another reviewer indicated. We could tell that our room floor had not been vacuumed because upon our arrival there were a couple sunflower seeds just chillin' on the floor. The front desk staff was friendly and all but it didn't really make up for rude awakening at 8 am when housekeeping began vacuuming in the hallway. I'm not sure why they couldn't vacuum our room but the hallway was such a priority... There was no indication as to when they would be done with their renovation but I do not recommend staying at this hotel any time soon!

We'll definitely be back!
By Celeste, 6/15/07
The customer service we received throughout both our stays was superb. Front office staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, but the beds were small. The pool and other guest areas were pleasant and clean. Overall, I was pleasantly suprised especially considering the great rate on the room.

Under Construction?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/7/07
I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn in Holyoke MA after spending the day at Six Flags. Knowing the quality I have received in the past from Holiday Inn I was pleasantly surprised at the getting a great rate through Hotwire. The staff was friendly however the room I was put it seemed to be under construction. There was no closets but lines drawn on the walls where the appeared to have been a closet. The rugs were dirty especially near the heater and the beds. There were also holes in the walls where there used to be pictures. The shower was impossible to get to the right temp and the toilet didn't flush properly. I was also woken up early due to other guest and housekeepers in the hallways. It was okay for one night mostly because of its great location but next time I will pay a little extra and stay somewhere else.
