Hotel Description:

Set on a quiet street in historic Edgartown, this home was built in 1860 for the owner of a whaling company. Now, it is one of the island's most tasteful and meticulously maintained and decorated inns. Each of the 25 rooms is adorned with mahogany furniture, lush fabrics and brass lamps. Guests are welcome to enjoy tea and cocktails in the common room or take a leisurely stroll through the garden and courtyard. The excellent in-house restaurant, L'Etoile, is open for dinner and Sunday brunch. Keep in mind, no children under 14.

And the new restaurant is superb!

Just back from a pampered long weekend at The Charlotte Inn, where attention to detail - from fine English country antiques in every nook and cranny to lighting and service - are graciously provided without fanfare. We also loved the new restaurant at the Inn. Fresh, inventive, but not overbearing menu and excellent preparation in a most romantic garden atmosphere. We travel extensively through many Relais & Chateaux around the world-- this highly personalized inn earns its reputation; hope the Terrace Restaurant thrives as it should!

Loved the entire experience, my wife and I have styayed here numerous times, both in season and in the winter and had a wonderful time. The best on the Island
