Would stay again BUT...
By lisa, 07/06/08
The hotel and rooms are very nice and clean. The first room we were given did not have a working air conditioner. We were moved right away to another room. Breakfast buffet was very filling. Bar quiet, wait staff friendly. The hotel states that if they do not give a wake up call that has been requested you get the night for free. Our wake up call did not arrive and we overslept and missed a ticketed tour. The guest service employee said she would refund the night. Upon check out we found that she did not refund the night. We were told that they would investigate the situation and call us. We have called and left messages for the manager 3 timessince we checked out June 12, and still have not received a phone call. Apparently they do not stand behind their word. Be sure to set an alarm instead of relying on wake up call.

Extremely Dirty & Nasty!
By Diane, 07/01/08
When I checked into this hotel at 11 PM I was greeted with a glaringly obvious unclean room. (I guess they only had 12 hours to clean it...) When I opened the toilet, it was very very obviously not clean because the last person to use the toilet had explosive diarrhea. I almost threw up and put my head over the sink only to see that there were hairs on the sink as well. I paid $107 to find someone else's diarrhea in the toliet, I don't think that was such a great value. It was super gross, super nasty and super bad. Unless you are into that sort of thing, I suggest that you stay far away from this hotel and just to be safe, I have no intentions of staying at ANY Crowne Plaza ever again.

Excellent Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/28/08
Post renovation = this hotel is fantastic. Great service, clean rooms, great gym, great & FREE shuttle service, lobby convenience store, drinks at the bar are strong, and very quiet! Highly recommended for the price!

Not another chance
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/02/06
The staff are unprofessional, especially the front desk people and some higher management personnel. I complained about the noise from the on-going renovation but was given a cold shoulder by the said arrogant hotel management. I expected free hot breakfast as one would with this kind of hotel but they have done away with this as I was told. The room I stayed in was clean and fresh. That is the only good thing about my stay.

Wedding Guests
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/02/06
As a Mother of the Bride, and with guests coming into town from Alaska, Montana, California - EVERYWHERE - for the wedding, we were concerned that our guests have a wonderful experience in the DC area. This hotel was the PERFECT choice. It's quiet, yet conveniently located to I-270 and the DC Metro system. There is a shuttle that will help out with transporting folks to and from Metro - but our suggestion would be to rent a car if your pocketbook allows. Our guests went 'downtown' to see the sights, and came back to a beautiful hotel with a wonderful staff and great accomodations! The sales manager, Mike Parent, was a DREAM to work with and took care of everything for us! We had a block of over 20 rooms - and all our guests were very, very pleased! There IS on-going renovation - but progress is being made and every day they are that much closer to being complete. There is also a 'sister' hotel across the parking lot, which was a little less expensive for our out of town guests on a budget! Several of our daughter's sorority sisters were able to stay there and and of course join in the fun at the Atrium! We HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

Never return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/21/06
The hotel is undergoing major renovation from what they term a "2 star" rating to a "4 star" rating. There is now no hot breakfast, no evening managers special. No suites are available, only regular hotel rooms. There are no microwaves or refrigerators available. (two members of our party were placed in another hotel when refrigerators needed for medications were unavailable.) There is a charge for using the internet in the business center. The phones are not dual-line, there are no expanded cable channels and no pay per view movies with Nintendo. Two people in our group (myself included) were walked in on, with no knock or warning. The reason for this intrusion was "that we checked in early and housekeeping didn't know we were in the room and they were just checking the room to make sure it was in order" Erroneous information in my case because I checked in at 2:45p and the intrusion did not happen until 5:30p. Asked about the horrible smells from construction, we were told it was "air freshener" NOT the paint, carpet and wallboard smells truly happening. No windows in this hotel open. My reason for expressing my dis-satisfaction is due to the poor service I received during my stay and the fact that the staff continually failed to make things right, something that was listed in my room as the hotels prime concern. If the hotel cannot make its guests comfortable during the conversion/renovation process, then they should close until the work is complete. The breakfast was horrible (a bagels and cereal affair) and the area where it was served was always dirty with construction debris, the keys to the rooms never worked, and there are no courtesy phones anywhere in the hotel, so a trip to the desk is always required. The voice mail system was on again off again, the wake up service on again off again, and the air conditioner in my room never worked. (the only thing the staff could seem to do about this was supply a fan!). In each case listed, it was never a problem with the hotel, but a problem with the guests (your keys don't work because you had them too near a cell phone, etc. etc. etc.) I have stayed in this hotel many times before this renovation and enjoyed my stay. The rooms used to be beautiful and the staff was fantastic. The breakfast in prior visits was amazing and the hotel was always light and cheery. Sadly, this has all changed. I could not recommend this hotel for any reason at this time.

Great service
By pacnwest, 06/12/04
I love this hotel and especially the staff. We always stay here when we are in the D.C. area. The shuttle takes us to the Metro so we can go sightseeing and to a little shopping/restaurant district a few miles from the hotel. I don't think you can get any closer to the city and still have the affordability that this one offers. The full breakfast is great and the suites are nice.
