Location & Value--More than a place to rest your head
Accessing the hotel is easy. Just off the highway, but certainly not next to it, and the parking garage that is connected to the hotel is very convenient (bring parking ticket into hotel and they will add it into bill-you can to in/out of the garage at $15/day). There is a little pool or "pond" that we saw, heated. Lobby is nice. We booked through expedia and had to wait for the hotel for confirmation, but only took a few minutes. Staff helpful with offering restaurant suggestions and there is a hotel shuttle that can take you there. Complimentary USA Today in lobby. There are 2 elevators (kind of smelly--like smoke and blue crab) and 9 floors--they are slow. Ice/vending on each floor and laundry room in hotel. My husband and I just needed a convenient, decent place to lay our head for the night to attend a wedding on the Bay Lady dinner cruise (harborcruises.com), and picky me was surprised at the size of the room. Not much of a view from the big windows, but there is a desk, sofa, coffee table, bed, nightstand, safe, sink/vanity, bathroom with mini toiletries and a generous amount of towels, microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker (with coffee fixins and even bottled water and a granola bar), TV (PPV $15). Room service from 7am to 11pm. I craved a cheesecake at 10:55pm and they happily delivered. Saturday they have a decent breakfast buffet for $9.95 that includes coffee, OJ, eggs, new potatoes, yogurt, bagels, bacon, sausage, and service was friendly. TIP: When looking for inner harbor accomodations, find the closest hotel to the event that you are attending. The inner harbor is a pretty general term, and we found Days Inn just 2.5 blocks walk from the Bay Lady while other inner harbor hotels were further up. Also, be prepared to pay for parking garages and to take chances with traffic and the one-way streets if you don't like to walk. Days Inn was way convenient to Pratt Street which is the strip of sights of the Inner Harbor including Harbor Place, Camden Yards, Ravens, Galeria, Convention Center. Remember to use street smarts as with any city, stay in groups, walk in well-lit areas, know exactly where you are and where you're going. Buildings tend to look the same. Not that we had any incident, but it never hurts to be cautious nowadays.
Overall for the price, Days Inn is a lot more than just a place to rest your head.
