DO NOT STAY HERE

I came to do research at the National Archives. From the website, I was under the impression that the rooms had indoor access. I found that all of the king rooms are accessed from the parking lot. I arrived at midnight, and the first room I was assigned was on the ground level. About five men were hanging around right in front of the room door. The clerk said it was normal for people to be hanging out there, and grudgingly switched me to an inside room.
The air conditioner did not work the first night, and while the staff attended to that problem promptly, the room had a very musty smell that made my allergies act up.
The inside of the hotel is very dumpy, like it hasn't been updated for several years. Half of the equipment in the exercise room did not work.
The hotel offered a complimentary shuttle, but the shuttle bus driver gave us a bad time about using the service. Complained the whole time about having to pick up guests - which was his job!
Very expensive for what you get. Cancelled the remainder of my reservation after two nights. There is a VERY nice Quality Inn a few blocks down the road that was cleaner, more modern, had a nicer staff, better restaurants, and was the same price (but unfortunately has the same shuttle driver).
