Will NOT go back!
By Honoree B, 6/7/10
The room smelled like mold, the carpet felt wet, the room was tiny, the staff was rude and the place was just straight up GHETTO! The "fun zone," or what ever they call it felt like an abandoned public pool. It was the first time I have ever seen a lifeguard at a motel. We walk up to the pool (my 4 year old very excited to sit in the hot tub) and he's immediately denied. The "life guard" says no one under 18 in the hot tub. OK, whatever, I can deal with a sad kid. Then, as we're talking to the "life guard," my two year old decides to go in the big pool by himself and is drowning. I jump in to get him immediately. The "life guard" didn't get up from his seat ONCE and then proceeds to tell me that my child should put on a lifejacket (WHILE he's downloading music on his computer!!!). Then my six year old throws some diving sticks into the pool (provided by the motel) and jumps into the SHALLOW end to get them (she did not dive). The "life guard" (who is now outside on the patio chatting with a buddy) blows his whistle and tells us, "NO JUMPING! The next person to jump in the pool gets a 2 minute penalty!" Are you flippin' kidding me?!?!?! Where am I? You're pretty much just limited to wading so we left (after about 10 minutes) and went to the campground where my husband's parents were staying. The restaurant is not operating and the deluxe continental breakfast is yogurt, cold cereal, bagels and waffles. And I should mentioned that they have a breakfast monitor as well. I felt like I was in middle school the whole time we stayed at this place. There were weirdos in the parking lot and the place is just, overall, dark and dreary. Totally put a damper on a nice weekend getaway with the family. NOT worth the price they charge at all.

DO NOT STAY HERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/27/09
I came to do research at the National Archives. From the website, I was under the impression that the rooms had indoor access. I found that all of the king rooms are accessed from the parking lot. I arrived at midnight, and the first room I was assigned was on the ground level. About five men were hanging around right in front of the room door. The clerk said it was normal for people to be hanging out there, and grudgingly switched me to an inside room. The air conditioner did not work the first night, and while the staff attended to that problem promptly, the room had a very musty smell that made my allergies act up. The inside of the hotel is very dumpy, like it hasn't been updated for several years. Half of the equipment in the exercise room did not work. The hotel offered a complimentary shuttle, but the shuttle bus driver gave us a bad time about using the service. Complained the whole time about having to pick up guests - which was his job! Very expensive for what you get. Cancelled the remainder of my reservation after two nights. There is a VERY nice Quality Inn a few blocks down the road that was cleaner, more modern, had a nicer staff, better restaurants, and was the same price (but unfortunately has the same shuttle driver).

Staff is wonderful!!
By jay, 12/6/08
First when I arrived the front desk staff greets you with a smile. Both Michelle and April were at the desk and they helped check me in and get me all the information I would ever need for my stay. When I went to the room I was very happy with the appearence. It was very clean also. I have read other reviews about this place and have found none of them to be true. The only thing I did have to call down to the desk for in the evening was an extra towel which was brought to be very quickly by a clerk named Nancy who was also very nice. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful. They had a large selection of items to choose from even though it was not a (hot breakfast) they had a waffle maker. The attendent in the breakfast area was very helpful also. I stayed for 3 nights and used the shuttle everyday. It is a free daily service and the driver was very nice. In all my stay was great and I would come back and stay they next time I am in the area!!

Lady Front Desk Manager very rude. Not willing to accomodate for another day
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/8/08
Front Desk Manager not very accomodating. Bad attitude. Hotel looked like it received a patch up job. The hotel felt stuffy, dark and depressing. bathrooms were not nice or the room. The restaraunt inside the main hotel not open. You have to go next door. Not many cable channels. We couldn't find anything to watch on television. What really helped us to make the decision not to go back was the lady front desk manager.

If you want a good night sleep dont stay here.
By Amanda, 1/8/07
I read the reviews before I stayed here however the price was pretty resonable and I had 2 children that needed to be entertained while my husband was off to do some business work in Hyattsville. The moment I pulled in at 10 pm there was a gathering of juviniles in front of the restaurant/banquet hall. Some in thier cars with thier systems bass on high. When we stepped into the lobby to check in we had to wait 2 minutes for the representive to finish up a personal call before she acknowledged us. Our room was outside on the lower level and when I asked her if there would be alot of noise she replyed "There should'nt be". That was an understatement. After we settled in and I put my children ages 6 and 11 in bed and turned down the TV the noise began. First it was car doors opening and closing repeatedly then there were people the next door down standing out side holding very loud conversations. Repeatadly using the f word and other language. This went on for another 45 min. I had to turn the TV up so that my kids would not here the words they were using. I figured maybe it was just a one night thing and since we were staying one more night I thought I would give the hotel the benifit of the doubt and stay the last night... i should have checked out because it continued the last night too well into the moring. Loud music, people talking as loud as they coculd with no respect for others around them. I cannot hold the Hotel responsible for the the actions of others but if you want to get a good nights sleep find a different hotel. It seemed like alot of the locals go to the fundome just to "hang out" and swim. Really bad location. I regreted not spending the extra $10 to stay at the Comfort Inn or even the Ramada. Im sure I would have slept better.

Very Average
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/06
The room was comfortable and clean but it is unfortunate that the bathroom is so small and very difficult to perform your natural bodily functions. The pool and jacuzzi were excellent. As was the shuttle to the metro apart from waiting some time at the National Archives on 2 occasions at 5 o'clock The breakfast is about adequate but nothing special as the orange juice tasted as if it was watered down. (As was the draft beer in the bar). The food in the restaurant was excellent but they should know to serve white wine chilled ! We stayed for 4 nights and unfortunately so were hundreds of school children who made a tremendous noise from 5:45 in the morning. (The stairs being metal echoed very badly). They were still noisy late at night. The bus drivers started the engines at 6:00 am and left them running for over an hour (What a waste of energy !!!) which made sleeping very difficult. We complained to the staff who very very concerned and considerate and we were offered a 50% discount for one night which I do not feel was adequate as nothing was done to stop the noise and early bus starting. Whoever was supposed to be supervising the children certainly had no idea what to do. Overall very disappointed for the money we paid especially as it was a vacation from the U.K.

wouldn't go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/13/06
The only nice thing about this place was the air-conditioning. Room was small, and the bathroom was even smaller. Bathroom was filthy. Try Comfort Inn or Holiday Inn, just down the street.

Great place just one issue....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/8/06
This is a great place for families with kids who love to swim. Over this past Easter break it had a life gaurd on duty during pool hours. During our stay tour groups abounded because its a good value and easy commute to DC. My child loved the pool. I loved the free transportation to Metro DC station. Sorry driving a car in DC is not my idea of a good time! There is a free continental breakfast. If you want privacy and a more quiet environment ask for a booking in the smaller attached building in the back of the property. It has a smelley hallway that you can walk thru to the main bldg. Or you can short cut thru the courtyard to a door adjacent to the pool area. The cleanliness wasn't the greatest but I imagine cleaning up after tour buses of kids is a challenge every day. Overall it is a great value for the dollar. I had no problems with the staff everyone was polite and helpful.

do not stay here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/05
this place is awful. first they screwed up our reservation, they got the dates wrong, then they gave us the wrong room, we asked for a king and they gave us a double, next, NO continental breakfast AT ALL both days we stayed, the girl behind the desk said she had no idea why she was just "a weekend girl", third the pool was closed both days so we couldn't swim and lastly they wouldn't let me pay cash for the room. the desk clerk said he had already charged my credit card and couldn't take it off, he eventually did after about 5 minutes of complaining, which means he could take it off he just was choosing not to.

WEDDINGS--A NO NO!
By Parent, 11/12/05
Our wedding was held at this hotel. The overall event turned out pretty well, even after management was so rude and insensitive. The manager in charge, on our wedding day cursed at the DJ and threw the cake decorator's tools off the cart because it was the hotel's property and even fussed with me, the bride, on my day. He charged people for drinks at the bar, even though we had a tally bar for $1600 plus 5%taxes and 18% gratuity. Imagine leaving the head table to discover that the guests were being charged even though I paid for the bar. After I confronted the manager he told me that "I am the manager and I do what I want to do". I had to go to the office (on my wedding night) to have them look at the contract and clean up the mess that was created. In conclusion, I would not recommend using this place for any major events. The sales office is quite unorganized, and you have to do most of the work to keep everything in order. I chose this place because they have good food, but that was the highlight of the evening.
