Unorganized or Bait and Switch
By Ted, 4/9/11
Made a reservation more than a week in advance. Never received confermation. Called day before I flew in to check on it. Said they had no reservation or info. on me or my arrival then quoted a different rate. Told them this was unacceptable and I would not stay there and they better not charged my card. I ended up at the Mariot. Day after my arrival the American Inn charged my card at an even higher rate after i was guarantied this would not happen since they had no record of my reservation. I was lied to and feel this is a classic case of a bait and switch attempt. Do not give this place any of your information or stay here. I will be filling a complaint with the DA office of consumer affairs, the BBB , Angie's list, JAG, and any where else I can think of.

I wouldn't stay here again
By golfgrll, 2/12/10
There is no hot water for the showers. The sink drained poorly. The hotel was bad and run downed. I wouldn't stay here again.

A bit deceiving
By Linda, 8/18/09
What I did like about this inn is that the staff was nice and accomadating. The down side was much more. The pix on the website are deceiving! The lobby is dark and small! The elevator and hallways are somewhat dingy! The rooms are small and the bathtub had MOLD on the wall and ceiling! The continental breakfast had good choices(and the idea of continental breakfast was hard to fine in other hotels in the area!) but the room had crumbs on the floor and the PLASTIC tablecloths are OLD! Parking is minimal and adds stress if you need to come and go since once you leave you lose your spot! If there are no spots available then you need to park across the street at a public metered lot! (One of the "extras" listed on the website was free parking--not necessarily so!!) We could hear the lady next door on her phone like she was sitting in our room--not good! Water pipes can be heard banging in the walls early in the am--and a clicking noise in the room--don't know what that was! Pool is only open 2-8pm! Breaking point for us which made us cut our stay short--silverfish in the bathroom! For $20 more a night there are other hotels close by!

Good for short stays
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/31/07
I stayed here on business for 2 nonconsecutive days. The staff was extremely pleasant. The manager actually met me outside and helped me bring stuff in - he knew who i was from the previous stay that week! Continental breakfast is very good. For such a tiny hotel, they have a good selection, including a waffle maker. The rooms are very small and they could use an overhaul. Sheets were torn/tearing, but clean. The towels are quite stiff. Very few accomodations, but for the price it's okay. One review says there's only a soda machine, but on the 4th floor there are both soda and snack machine. Very small parking lot, but there is a garage available right off of the main parking lot. Decent location, but it's located opposite an apartment complex with fairly...uh...free tenants. On both nights I've seen neighbors with open blinds roaming around their place nude. Honestly. Things that woulda been nice: ironing boards, new sheets, more parking, more outlets.

Great for location to NIH but not much else
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/10/07
Most of the staff was great and helpful. The driver of the shuttle did not speak english very well and was hard to understand. This lead to our group not being picked up at the scheduled place and time. I highly recommend this place if you are having a conference at NIH but because of the very limited parking, I would not suggest this place for tourist. If you do not get the hotel before 6pm, you may not have a parking space. The breakfast is better than some places. They offer a waffle maker along with the usual stuff in a contenintal breakfast.

We won't go back!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/21/06
First of all, it was difficult to find - a large tree branch was blocking the sign. Once we did find it, we also found lack of parking! For a hotel that has approximately 70 rooms, there was only about 15 parking spaces. Luckily we got the last space - otherwise we would have had to find a parking garage and then walk back to the hotel.. We were only passing through for the night and we wanted to do a little sight-seeing but we didn't because we would have lost our parking space:( The room was in definite need of repair - as I looked up at the ceiling, there was some sort of mold on a lot of the tiles. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest - saw some hairs - yuck! The mexican restaurant next to hotel was nice. No coffee maker in the room. There was no fan in the bathroom. Staff was okay. Vending machine consisted of pop and water - didn't find any with snacks! For the price, it was okay.
