Nonantum Resort, Kennebunkport

Having never been to Maine, we decided to venture there this summer, and wow what a treat we found at this resort! The room overlooked the river, and had a fire place. We went sailing on the Pineapple Ketch with a great Captain and mate. Then we went to the dining room for the best lobster dinner in the area let me tell you! We loved our rooms in the Portside Lodge! We traveled twenty hours with three children and loved our rooms. Perfect for a family of five. Ocean view, amazing service, excellent food. The front desk stand were awesome. We asked if we could have smores for the kids one night and they set the whole thing up for us. Blankets, chairs, pokers, water and even wipes for the kids hands. They do not say No to anything. The rooms are so comfortable its like coming home!! The kids didnt want to leave the room. This was our first visit to maine and we are hoping to make this a yearly family tradition. We loved the amenitities. The marina right on the property was perfect. We took the kids on the lobster boat tour, on a fishing charter and didnt get to do the whale tour, but plan on it next time. WE cant wait to go back!

WE loved our room in the Portside Lodge. What a gorgoues view, ocean lobster boats! Squeaky clean with wonderful amenities, toiletries, chocolate, fireplace. The buffet breakfast was loaded with choices for everyone...hot and cold buffet. I really found the staff so nice to deal with. We will return!

We booked for a birthday weekend. The day we arrived, we were told the main dining room was closed b/c a bus tour was using it. They did open a side dining room which had 6-7 tables, but only one waiter and no bus staff. The man was over-worked and no one came to assist him. The food was delicious. The dining room was closed again on Sat. eve due to a wedding. Wedding and bus tours are certainly the mainstay of their business and these do get preferential treatment. The room (Portside) was spacious and clean with a gorgeous view of the river and the inlet to the ocean. The bathroom needs to be redone. The hotel is older so it is not sound insulated. Was it worth $350 a night? No - especially since the price dropped by $200 the day after we checked out! Our fault for not waiting a week. The concierge,Tom G. in the lobby, is a treasure. It is easy to walk to town and to the scenic beaches. A gorgeous weekend for us, even if pricey and too shabby to be chic. I did not see nor hear any children, so I don't know if it would be great for families. Also, they advertise a hot tub, but no one seemed to know of its whereabouts :)

We had trouble finding the place. When we called, they left us on hold for awhile. The rooms were okay. Only the maids were friendly to us. The receiption desk were snotty to us. Rooms were out dated. It was like a cheap motel. My friends room was a little nicer. Breakfest was so so. We spent $250 a night and no where worht the money.
