A Special Place in Our Heart
By ,
This lovely, quaint hotel is situated quite close to the action in the French Quarter and Cafe DuMonde, however, it maintains it's quiet, romantic allure. My husband and I spent a romantic weekend there (35 years ago, before we had kids). I still remember the lovely appointed room overlooking a central courtyard fountain. Then we went back (35 years later) and the hotel managment honored our request for the same room. Heavenly trip. The hotel's location is perfect for a quick dash to the farmer's market (located directly behind the hotel) or a quick jaunt to Jackson Square. All in all, a most exciting and memorable experience.

Great value in The Quarter
By ,
We've stayed twice here and we're staying again this summer. Very friendly and helpful staff. We told them we liked our room very much, and without requesting it, the put us in the same room the next year. Easy walking distance to Jackson Square and the French Market. Nice courtyard with fountain, onsite parking(which is more important than you think in NOLA), and a pretty pool. Rooms have cool antique beds and furniture.

Hot and Cold Shower - YUCK
By ,
Hotel was beautiful. The room was lovely. The air conditioner was not very cold, however, the weather was pleasant. My biggest complaint was the shower water. At 7am we were wanting Cafe DuMonde so I jumped in the shower. The shower ran "extremely" hot then "extremely" cold all throughout my shower. I was afraid to rinse the shampoo out of my hair. I was either going to be frozen or scalded. This is my one complaint about this hotel. The rest of our stay was great.

Nice rooms with real antique furniture. The second time that I stayed there the Bellhops and the front desk knew my name when I arrived.

I've dreamt about it ever since!
By ,
My friends and I were hoping to make a regular habit of going to Jazz Fest every year. And our second year there we stumbled upon this haven of a hotel and still haven't been able to go back but can't get it out of my head! A Picturesque french hotel with a fabulous staff that were kind and helpful. Our room was in the courtyard and we marveled at the fountain and greenery. It was a bit to chilly to jump in the pool, but everything was well maintained and simply adorable. I have recommended this hotel to anyone going to New Orleans. It's the perfect location close to the fun of Bourbon street and Jackson Square but most importantly a safe feeling as it sits back a bit from the rest of the chain hotels that are down town. I can not wait until I can take my boyfriend for a tete a tete, I just know he will love it like I do!

This place was wonderfull, just a couple blocks off Rue Burbon, huge lofts. and the lovlest court yard.We were only there one night, and left earlie in the morinng, but the loft was awsome, and being that close to burbon st. it was actually sooo quiet

In Just the Right Spot
By ,
This hotel is great for a lot of reasons. It has a ghost story (although that isn't really unusual in New Orleans). It has historical value. The rooms are lovely - but I have to admit that the bed was a little hard. The staff is nice. However, the best thing about this hotel is the location. It's in the French Quarter but it's not ON River Street, which is great if you want to be near the party but also able to get away from it. It's one street over from Royal Street, which has all the antiques, art galleries and restaurants you can desire. Just downstairs is the Cafe Beignet, a nice alternative to the more crowded Cafe DuMonde. My room looked directly across the street to the historic Ursuline Convent. Frommer's travel guide recommended it and I must agree that it's a great buy considering all that you're getting.

Quaint and Cute
If you want the look and feel of the Big Easy than this hotel supplies it. Cute courtyards with fountains, gas lamps and antiques, make this a unique New Orleans experience. I have enjoyed this hotel many times. Location is on the quiet side of the quarter, close walking distance to Jackson Square, French Market and Cafe Dumonde for Beinges. The rooms come in all shapes and sizes. Each building is a little different. Ask questions to insure you get a nice renovated room. Yes, there musty, yes there old. But the age is part of the charm. Don't get a standard room, spend a little more, it is worth it. I'll go back again and again for that definate NOLA experience at this little gem.
