The hotel is OK.
I'm going to be as fair as I can about my review of the Maison Dupuy Hotel in New Orleans. Customer service is the most important thing to me and I will rate that as fairly as possible.
-Location: Great location and close to almost anything in the French Quarter.
- Arrival: The staff at the front desk were friendly and even made my restaurant reservation for my party that night.
- Rooms: The rooms are ice cold, beds are comfortable, hot water/pressure is pretty good and most importantly its clean. I will say that the pictures on the website do not represent the actual rooms unless you're probably getting a Suite. The rooms are a little out-dated. Also, I was annoyed that I had to call down for cups, and an ice-bucket. Then I found out that I didn't have a "Do Not Disturb" Sign or a coffee machine in the room too. Most of these things were missing in both the rooms I rented. They did deliver them without any problem but for a "4" star hotel, I expect a bit more.
-Valet: The Valet is horrible. I've stayed at quite a few hotels and these guys take it for worst customer service. First, they won't help out with your luggage. At a 4 star hotel, I expect them to bring the luggage cart out, load it up and at a minimum and bring it to the front desk for me. Not these guys, matter of fact when my sister asked if they helped bring luggage in the valet replied with an attitude, "Why, do you need help." Secondly, The valet guys would be right inside the lobby counting their money that they made that day and joking around. For me, that's a bit trashy - go to your break room to count your money. Oh and good luck trying to find a valet to get your car. We walked out with our ticket to get our car (its pretty obvious why we're standing by the valet stand with a ticket in hand) and the valet who did see us walked right by us to put away another car. Never once did he even acknowledge us with a "Hey guys, I'll be right back" or anything. We waited about 5 minutes for him to come back. No hustle in his step what so ever.
- Bar: Let me start off by saying that the bartender named Steven was superb! He was friendly, talkative, knew his way around NOLA and recommended two of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. He even called a few different restaurants for me to find out wait times without me asking. WOW. Good job Steven!
- Restaurant: We had breakfast one morning. It's buffet and was pretty good. Now the service again is another story. We sat down and they immediately brought us coffee/tea/water (one thing you could get yourself). Now for the entire 45 minutes we ate breakfast, the servers never came back to check up on us. We ran out of coffee and water. I had to get someone's attention for the check.
Overall: I paid $119 per room plus $32 for valet and would spend that kind of money again at the Maison Dupuy. During the high-season they charge from $300 - $400 per night which to me is way too high for what I get. I'd rather spend that at the Ritz Carlton or at a Marriott where I know I'll get 4 star service.
