Total Lack of Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/24/06
The following excerpt from a letter written on April 17 has never been answered. In addition, I sent an email to the main web site for Days Inn. I find it appalling that no one has contacted us.
On April 7, 2006 at approximately 11:00 pm, we arrived at your location for a reserved two-nights stay. When we checked in, the lobby was chaotic. A high school baseball team had arrived moments earlier and players, parents, and young children were loud and disruptive. The person at the desk seemed harried. We checked in, went up to the room, and found that it had not been cleaned. My husband went to the desk and tried to talk to the man as he continued to deal with the group and to register other guests. After a period of time, we were given a second room key. This room turned out to be occupied. A second time, my husband waited at the desk upset that the night manager was registering other guests before taking care of our problem. He was told to wait his turn. In that time frame, the last room was sold. The manager said then that the only thing he could do was to clean the original room himself. When my husband told me this, I went to that room to find the manager trying to one-handedly clean and make up beds since he needed a cane to support himself. I suggested that there was no way he could clean the room to my satisfaction in a timely manner since it was now well after midnight. We told him that we expected him to find a room in another motel for us. He did not do so.
My husband went to the nearest two motels. Only one had a room
smoking
that he checked out and said was uninhabitable for us. That manager, however, kindly called around and found us a room at The Signatures Inn to which we moved. The next morning we went back to Days Inn to check in for our second night. The night manager had canceled our reservation, and we were told the Inn was fully booked. We had to leave for an appointment so I left my cell number with the person at the desk asking her to please call if she found us a room in this hotel or another one. Luckily, and maybe because of the acknowledged snafus by the night manager for canceling our booking, she was able to accommodate us.
The room at The Signature Inn cost us a considerable amount more than what we would have paid at Days Inn in addition to the hassle of finding a place and moving. I have enclosed a copy of the receipt and expect remuneration.
I would also suggest that when large groups of young people are booked that it be on one floor and that they be told to keep the noise down. The other reservation in our party was between two groups of players who ran in and out of their rooms, banging on and slamming doors for hours
certainly not conducive to a good nights sleep.
