Commonwealth Lodge, Elizabethtown

I have read each and every comment written about Commonwealth Lodge.. word for word. I can't disagree with the building being old as it was built in the 60's... and the place does need a little fixing up.. so I'm here to let people know that Commonwealth was bought out by someone who is spending a lot of money to fix this place up. It takes a little bit to do it in a way to save money, but can promise that this place isn't as bad as what others are talking about. Almost every room here has been remodeled and the only people who still complain are the people who want a room for 28.00 and realize that the room they were given is one of the few rooms that haven't been redone yet. I have been in this area for a year and have not had any reports of stolen items or anything! It's on the rougher; older part of town, but completely safe!! I think that people come to this hotel and do more of a thorough check on things because the place is old and doesn't "look" as nice, but I guarantee you that if you go to these other nicer places in e-town.. they are going to have things that don't look so great either! Just check!.. plus the room is 80.00-100.00 a night. I paid 120.00 dollars for one night at the Holiday Inn Express and found a roach trap under the bed!!.... Overall.. Commonwealth is old and it doesn't look as pretty as the newer hotels, but it's definitely worth the money!! The new owner is really trying!!

I don't even know where to begin. I guess first things first, this is the absolute worst place I have ever stayed in and would never recommend this to anyone! My boyfriend and I were driving up north to visit family during Thanksgiving. It was late at night and the roads were icy. We saw this hotel and it didn't look too bad from the outside and was cheap. The lobby smelled like body odor.. bad. So we got the key to the room but the door would not open at first because the handle had been damaged. Finally we got into the room to be greeted with a cockroach and the smell of smoke and two of the lights did not work. The paper was peeling off the walls and there was water damage and even more mold. The furniture looked like they got it from a dump, it was all cut up and stained. The toilet did not flush and the bathtub had dirt in it. We pulled off the top cover to the bed and the top sheet was all messed up and so was the bottom sheet like somebody had been in there and the sheets were never changed. At this point I was trying to convince my boyfriend to leave the hotel and I would finish driving. He was so tired though from our long drive that he just wanted to get some sleep.. then we saw something horriffic. BLOOD on the bottom mattress!!! And it wasn't just a small amount like a little nose bleed or something, I mean it seriously looked like somebody was MURDERED and because they must not have enough money they decided to just keep the mattress and use it as a bottom one. We packed our stuff up and left immediately. I am pretty sure there are laws against dumps like this, especially the massive blood stain left on the bed. We will be notifying the health department and possibly the police.

Yes its an older hotel and they are working on getting things remodeled..we had a meet n greet there ...with over 68 ppl showing and over 18 rooms booked..they where great to us..treated all of us..great ..the hotel was clean..and thats what you want ..the meeting rooms where great in fact we have booked this hotel for another 4 more single/ cpl meets this yr...

They claim to have wireless internet but they dont

After living at the Lodge for 7 month's there are many thing's that i miss now that I have my own place ! I miss the manager,she is definately a God sent angel.She spend's many hour's everyday making sure that evryone is taken care of and comtrable and neglecting herself and her need's.The Lodge is an older building and still need's some work in a few area's,however,Rome was'nt built in a day and with the economy being so poverty strictened the money is hard to come by so don't be so judge mental,if your concerned why not try to help in some way ? remember we all strive for a better community.

I like this place because of the privacy and respect the staff gives to you. The facility needs some minor repair and cleaning but over all it was a good experience.

The maid service was nonexistant and the maid was very rude (she cussed alot). However, the lady behind the desk and the pool were great! Downstairs rooms have DSL connections. Some rooms have mirrored walls and there is an overpriced jacuzzi room...

Most disgusting place ever stayed at. Rug stunk of urine, bedding not cleaned, cockroach climbing the walls, absolutley filthy. Apparently there's no regulatory authority for motels in Kentucky.

This motel was horrible. If we weren't so tired and could not find anything else, we never would have stayed there. We found bugs, the wallpaper was old and stained. It was just a nasty place to stay. We were afraid to walk to the car to get out what we thought might be stolen during the night. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
