Executive Inn Rivermont, Owensboro

So we were all told that the hotel was "to far gone". After looking for myself during the liquidation sale this summer I now better. The hotel was in need of many major repairs no doubt, but it could have been fixed. Tearing the wings off the hotel and leaving the tower and convention center would have been better than this. It was the heart of our city for 30 years and now its gone. Now I hear there are no immediate plans for the site? We are going to get a nice grassy field? That will be beneficial to our community. Instead of keeping the hotel open and creating multiple jobs we are going to have one guy there mowing our nice big pasture in downtown Owensboro. Way to keep our needs in mind when making the cities decisions. John Bays was crazy huh? What do you call this madness? Economic stimulus ? ..... Executive Inn will be missed. This was and still could have been the drawing card for Owensboro. Cities our size did not have ammenities like this in 1978. It was like leaving and entering Las Vegas for the night. The atrium was beautiful and we will never have another one like it. I went through the high rise in the summer when they were liquidating merchandise. Rooms had new carpeting and furniture. Building did have hurricane and ice storm damage. Which needed to be fixed. Implosion was not the answer. We all suffered from those two storms last year. I own an antique shop which receives much out of town business, Taking the reason to come here away for an indefinate amount of time was not wise. There are no interstate HWYS going through Owensboro. You have to have reason to come here. Amazingly there are no concrete plans for this site. The State Building is slated to be next. With Don Moore moving out on 54, I expect the city to buy his property. I hope the officials plans work out, but I would have like their plans to have centered around what had been the heart and soul of Owensboro for 30 years, The Executive Inn Rivermont. Good-bye my friend and thanks for the many wonderful memories of growing up there and later sharing you with my own wife and son. You will always be remembered!

The Executive Inn in Owensboro, Ky was imploded today 11/09/2009

this hotel is no longer open due to owners not paying loan payments....this has been an ongoing problem since a fire destroyed a few rooms within the hotel........city of owensboro now owns the property and are going to tear it down.please call ahead to verify the closure i have described

I purchased a package in April for the Chris Knight - Schooter Jennings concert. I have recently learned about the hotel's being demolished. Can anyone tell me if they are in this situation and how are you going about being reinbursed. I haven't heard one word from any one on this. I have contacted my credit card company but have only received a dispute form to complete.

i live in Owensboro and I believe that the Executive Inn has been going down hill for a while now and they had very polite people that worked at the front desk and as far as i know their services were ok. I have never stayed at the Executive Inn but i have had friends that have and i have not heard anything bad about the place. And as far as the bar goes well bikers go there yes but they also go to other bars in this town its a free country they can go where ever they please just like anyone else that wants to go to a bar.

i have never been more disappointed in a hotel in my 54 years of life. the internet review is deceiving. i had orginally reserved a king size bed room & when got there only a double room but that was not the issue. the room was in the back which made me feel i was in a warehouse area. the railing was loose & shaky with rusted out sections. carpet was worn way beyond approval. the internet description said indoor pool which i was told was under construction but later found out had been closed in 2006 and no construction ever started. the outside pool was advertiesed as heated but had not been heated in years. the elevators were slow, stopped between floors and made unbeliable noise. not sure the sprinkler system worked since they were so rusted together. authorties should be notified. i could go on & on. for years i have heard how great the executive inn was and had looked forward to a nice night away with my husband. the cadalic inn down the street had better standards. unfortunate that due to such bad experiene will not be back to owensboro and will make recomendation that the soccer association we were with do not play in tournaments there. i can not rate this hotel with even a "1"

What was once a beautiful hotel has turned into a dump. About 1/3 or more of the rooms are closed off due to a fire and the ones that are open are dirty and nasty. Hotel running on a shoestring budget. The Hotel lounge has turned into a biker bar. BEWARE.

Where did the quality that Bob Green insisted on go? The only attraction is the view from very low quality rooms. I guess the quality rooms are only reserved for the dignified guests that we never saw. Checked out and went to the Hampton Inn so at least we knew what we were getting. Don't waste your time here.
