Awesome
By jo, 03/02/08
I just love this hotel!!! I love the dark furniture and antiques. Some of the rooms have been newly remodeled. The restaurant was excellent. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I ask lots of questions and they were able to answer every one. I will definitely stay again. Just sorry I had to go home in the first place.

Old, unkept rooms!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/01/07
The overall atmosphere was nice, beautiful lobby. Unfortunately the rooms were not so nice. We stayed in a "renovated" tower room. Basically that means new bedspreads. Old scratched up furniture. Horrible picture on the tv. There was an inch gap between the carpet and brick bathroom floor. My sister stayed in an unrenovated room that was just as ugly and gross but larger than our "upgraded" room. I checked out after one night and went next door to the Courtyard by Marriott.

Not a good place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/19/07
If you want to stay in a rundown, dark, dirt era hotel , this is the place for you. Stayed for the weekend and was looking forward to staying in a sorta themed hotel. Service was poor, room was dirty, and certainly not worth the price. The shuttle service was nice but not worth it. I read some of the other reviews and can only assume the hotel is posting the positive ones. Good luck

Overrated
By Gr8fulRita, 08/01/06
Stayed here when we attended the BIX Jazz Fest in July, 2006, thinking it would add to our desire to have a romantic getaway. Nice decor, albeit a bit shabby and showing age. The room was nicely decorated and clean, but again, things like numerous chips in the wood t.v. armoire, a cracked lamp (glued together) and stained shower curtains decreased the enjoyment for us. We paid extra for a premium room but feel what we got was pretty average. Thin, lumpy pillows, threadbare linens. The a/c unit in the room was so incredibly LOUD that sleeping was next to impossible unless we turned it off completely. The hotel was full (pre-teen girl's softball tourney that weekend, too) so another room was out of the question. Thin walls also; could hear every word in conversations (until 2am - sheesh) of the several young men occupying the room next door. Bottom line: if you're looking for a "special" place to stay, this isn't it. Nothing really wrong, just not worth the hype and extra cost in our opinion.

O.k. for one visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/05/06
I have been driving past this hotel for years but never stayed. My family and I decided to splurge for 1 night en route home from a trip. The decor certainly fit the castle theme, but the hotel and furnishings do somewhat show their age (despite recent renovations). We did have our evening meal in The Lodge's restaurant. They have the best potato soup in the world! The piano bar was nice with the evening meal. I understood from the web site that breakfast was included with our room, but we found that was not the case, and ended up paying for breakfast in the restaurant. All in all, it was nice to pay extra and splurge for one visit, but I'm not sure we would return.

wouldn't go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/06
I thought from all the stories I heard, that this would be a great motel to spend the night in, But once going there for ourself, We were not at all impressed. First we were told one price, then they changed it. For the amount of money spending to stay there, it was not very clean, You could see where water had been leaking in the window. And Exhaust fans in the bathrooms didn't work. I just was not very impressed at all, and would not go back. I get the same things in a super 8 or something close.

intrigue
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/13/06
Nice older hotel in era theme. Clean and comfortable. Avoid food from lounge. Service and expectations lacking.Do not seem interested in your concerns about poor service or bill.
