Very Satisfied!
By Samantha, 7/6/10
When researching hotels in this area close to our family I read many conflicting reviews about this hotel as a stucture and the service that was provided there. Being the only hotel in the area that was close to our family and not outragiously high in price during the forth of July weekend it was pretty much our only option. The other reviews must have been during different mangagement because the Hotel was clean and the service was very nice and helpful. They even let our small group of family members hang out in the breakfast area so we had space to visit with one another. The free breakfast was very good. It is not a hot breakfast but there were things like doughnuts, bagels, and cearal. The only negative thing I can say about the place was I wasn't a fan of the bed. But then again there is no place like your own bed!!!

Good room, bad bed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/25/10
The check-in went smoothly, a very nice guy behind the desk. The room was convenient to the front door. I can see that some of the rooms would be very inconvenient with that layout, though. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, computer access, a god sofa and reading chair besides the computer chair at the desk. The TV was facing both the sofa and the bed. Now, the bed: It was low in the middle and we kept rolling toward the center. The pillows were shapeless lumps. The bottom sheet wasn't fitted and wasn't big enough for the bed. It couldn't be tucked i so every hour and a half or so, we had to get up and see where the bottom sheet went. Our sleep was really poor. Looking out the window was a fairly nice view except up close where all the garbage and cigarette butts were under the bushes. This is a good place if you don't use the bed.

VERY PLEASANT HOTEL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/22/08
THIS HOTEL WAS JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. THE STAFF WAS VERY WILLING TO ASSIST ME IN ALL OF MY NEEDS. THEY ANSWERED EVERY QUESTION I HAD AND EVEN GAVE ME EXCELLENT DRIVING DIRECTIONS. MY ROOM WAS VERY CLEAN AND THE BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE. THE COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST WAS GREAT. ALTHOUGH I DIDNT USE THE SWIMMING POOL OR HOT TUB IT WAS A VERY INVITING PART OF THE HOTEL. MY NEXT TIME IN DES MOINES I WILL DEFINITLEY STAY THERE AGAIN. 5 STARS!

Need new staff!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/07
While the location was ideal for our trip, and the hotel, itself, was clean and fairly nice, the staff was a completely different story. The young lady at the front desk that was there for most of our stay, apparently was in the middle of a quarrel with her boyfriend on her cell phone, which took priority over helping our party check in and get to our rooms. We arrived in the middle of a snowstorm and just wanted to get to a room to relax. We had several rooms booked and people were arriving at different times on different days. Most had problems checking in, either due to problems with rooms not being available, billing problems, or just staff problems. When we tried to clear up some of the issues upon checkout and we never once were given a "i'm sorry you had problems" from the staff that was at the front desk. Sometimes an apology is all that is needed but in this case, several were due and none were delivered. If this motel undergoes a staff change or new management, I would definitely stay there again. Its in a great location, and as I said, the hotel itself was nice enough.

good value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/28/07
We have used this hotel for years and have always had a positive stay. the rooms are always clean and it is located in a decent area just off the freeway. It has restaurants just a short walk across the parking lot and gas stations right on the corner. It appears they have done some remodeling lately. This is your nothing fancy but good value place to stay, we will continue to stay here.

Not happy whatsoever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/17/07
There was a power outage and our room was on the 2nd floor, the emergency lights in the hall only stayed on for a short period of time, in addition the split level concept to the hotel design proved to be more of a fire trap with absolutely no lighting. The front desk could not provide us with a flash light either, we had to use our cell phone for light. Absolutely terrible. Also when we tried to exit the building the carpet caught under the doors and the doors would not open. Hotel staff nowhere in sight. Obviously things we didn't check into prior to booking. I would not recommend nor would I stay in this hotel ever again.

Go here for a poor night's sleep
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/26/06
We stayed at this Best Western on our way to Minnesota. It is conveniently located off the highway, but I would have driven for hours just to find another place. We were greeted by an unfriendly young lady at the front desk who offered no smile, no help, nothing. We had requested a crib for our child and when paying for the room we were told there was no problem. However, calling the front desk several hours later (still with no crib) we were told they were out. Finally, the worst part, we could hear our neighbors TV blaring all night! The walls are paper thin. When I mentioned this the next morning at checkout to a different employee working, I was given no response, no "I'm really sorry, nothing." Humm..definitely not worth the money, even for a cheap hotel stay.

Bad Experience
Reservations were made 1 month in advance for a non smoking room. When arriving at the hotel we were told that smoking and non smoking were a preferance only and although our confirmation letter stated non-smoking they had no rooms available. When I told them we would not stay in a smoking room when we had reservations that stated otherwise they canceled our reservations completely and left us without a hotel for the weekend. Beware of this one.

Beware
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/6/05
This hotel had horrible service, dirty pool area and was expensive for nothing. The room was clean, but the noise was terrible. I've given this place a couple of chances but it fails everytime.
