9 reviews for Campus Inn, West Lafayette
The WORST hotel in the world
By Mohamed, 10/22/09
I am a Ph.D. grad student. I was in West Lafayette for MMPC conference @ Purdue in October 2009. 1. Room was unclean with dirty black marks on 2 walls and crappy chair and very old crappy black box that I thought was a TV. 2. $60 a night plus tax ($67) with no fridge, no microwave, no coffee/tea maker but you can add these for extra $10 or so for each so you end up paying a $100 in that place when you could go to the Holiday INN (a real clean hotel) nearby for less than that. 3. They had carpets outdoors (rooms open to the outside) so you walk on wet carpets till you get to your room when it's raining outside. Very non-hygienic. 4. I asked to check out 1 hour after I checked in and personally 5 minutes after I went into the room because I was at the conference opening and my wife checked in. 5. Yet, they charged me for the night anyway! (the manager said, I sat on the bed, threw something in the trash, used a towel, used the bathroom, touched the TV, breathed in the room, and he kept going on... to justify the charge, I was almost laughing at this point) 6. What's bothering me is that the manager was a very very Mean (capital M) person and he said that there is no question he was going to charge me for the night and also he said that he doesn't give a damn what I think about his hotel or the service and that I can write all the bad reviews that I want because he simply doesn't care about what I think! He refused to talk to me the night I was in and he was yelling at me on the phone the next day when I called him. He by far is the meanest person I have ever spoken to here in the USA. 7. That was a very BAD experience for me checking into that crappy room and especially talking to that awful person (the manager) on the phone. I am never ever going back there. I would rather sleep in the street than checking into this terrible campus inn. ---------- I once stayed @ the university plaza in Columbus, OH. I spent a full day there. I slept, used the bathroom and did everything. Then I decided that I am not spending the night and I checked out @ 11:30 pm. The guy at the front desk refunded me half the cost of a night. That's how a hotel should treat customers. With respect. And that's why I will not hesitate to check into the university plaza anytime in the future. ----------

Freindly Management
By Firoz, 11/14/08
Old but very clean property, clean linens, front desk staff and other staff including manager was very helpfull and co-operative. During my 5 days stay I have not seen parking lot empty. Very Happy with my stay and sure would like to stay at this property again and I recomand every parents to stay at this hotel. It is very close to Purdue University plus economical too. You can just walk to Purdue and so many restaureants nearby.

Unfriendly Management
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/07
I was in town for the Iowa game and this was the WORST hotel that I have ever stayed in. The manager did not allow more people in my party to stay in the room according to "Fire Codes," but somehow was able to allow it for an extra $40 (we were to be kicked out if we had more than 2 be in the room otherwise), he also woke me up and forced me to repark my vehicle because it was partially on one of the yellow lines although it did not make it any more difficult for other vehicles to park beside me. The manager did not work with us and extorted an extra $40 from us (on top of an already ridiculous premium price for a gameday weekend), he would also not allow us to cancel our reservation for the following night and gave us a smoking room instead of a non-smoking room. The room itself was terrible, it smelt musty and was blazing hot when we walked in. A refrigerator was not included with the room and the TV looked like something that could be bought at a garage sale; it only received 3 channels that did not have static. A statement was made for the room when we discovered that the only way that one can get hot water from the showers was to crank the "cold" water knob. We talked to several other customers that also had problems with the manager and upon meeting other residents in the West LaFayette area we learned that the hotel is known across town to be a dive. The only redeeming part of the Campus Inn is that it is in an ideal location that is close to downtown; however, that aspect is not worth having to deal with the horrible rooms and the unfriendly manager. I would not recommend that anybody stay at this low-class, run down motel.

Nice and Clean Hotel with Good Location for Purdue Visiters
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/11/07
At a glance this hotel looks older from out side since it was built long time ago but rooms were vary clean and nice and biger then other hotel we saw in the Lafayette area. This hotel is conveniantly located just couple of blocks from Purdue University. We enjoyed the stay in this hotel. Staff was very helpful. Rate was compitant with other hotel according to location.

Have stayed several times
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/07
Every time I've stayed here the service was top notch. My room has always been clean though modestly furnished. But as I likke to say, if you want to stay at the Omni, you'll pay Omni prices. The motel is well located, very close to restaurants, a movie theater and shopping. It's only a few blocks from the Purdue campus and if you want to visit Lafayette on the other side of the Wabash River it is close as well. There is a city bus stop near the entrance as well.

It was OK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/02/07
Stayed in two room suit. Place is pretty old and needs some new furniture/carpet, price was right and place was very clean. We were there in the off season Christmas/New year week. Odd thing is we kept hearing sounds throughout the night and could not really tell if it was from the trendy restaurants that back up to the room or water pipes we were located right next to the mechanical room. About half the price the trendy big name Hotels requested in downtown. Very good location to ice skating rink, movies and shops along with Purdue Campus

Great all around!
By Jessica, 08/07/05
Our experience with this Econo Lodge was positive. The staff were very friendly, the room was clean, and the location was convenient. We'd definitely stay here again.

room tidiness
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/10/04
I had reservation for 2 rooms. 1 room for for 4 nights and 1 room was for 3 nights. This was the week of Sept 23rd,2004. When I arrived the room I was taken to was smelling of disinfect so bad I asked to be moved. I am on oxygen and could not handle the fumes and musty smells. I was moved . The room was filthy, could not sit in chair and see tv and also I fell when getting out of shower . The tub was built upon platform. When we went to get the other roon next day,the room we reserved was not available. We were told the manager was not available at that time and a new clerk was there. She however was nice, but could not do anything for us except cancel the reservation, She did however make a phone call to see how to handle our sitution..We left. I did not file report on the foot. I now find out that I have a broken bone in the foot. I am sorry that I didn't . I had a very bad experience at that particuliar lodge, I will pass the news around. My concerns is that the motel is not clean and very uncomfortable. There were electrical outlets with no covers on them..
