The WORST hotel in the world
By Mohamed, 10/22/09
I am a Ph.D. grad student. I was in West Lafayette for MMPC conference @ Purdue in October 2009.
1. Room was unclean with dirty black marks on 2 walls and crappy chair and very old crappy black box that I thought was a TV.
2. $60 a night plus tax ($67) with no fridge, no microwave, no coffee/tea maker but you can add these for extra $10 or so for each so you end up paying a $100 in that place when you could go to the Holiday INN (a real clean hotel) nearby for less than that.
3. They had carpets outdoors (rooms open to the outside) so you walk on wet carpets till you get to your room when it's raining outside. Very non-hygienic.
4. I asked to check out 1 hour after I checked in and personally 5 minutes after I went into the room because I was at the conference opening and my wife checked in.
5. Yet, they charged me for the night anyway! (the manager said, I sat on the bed, threw something in the trash, used a towel, used the bathroom, touched the TV, breathed in the room, and he kept going on... to justify the charge, I was almost laughing at this point)
6. What's bothering me is that the manager was a very very Mean (capital M) person and he said that there is no question he was going to charge me for the night and also he said that he doesn't give a damn what I think about his hotel or the service and that I can write all the bad reviews that I want because he simply doesn't care about what I think! He refused to talk to me the night I was in and he was yelling at me on the phone the next day when I called him. He by far is the meanest person I have ever spoken to here in the USA.
7. That was a very BAD experience for me checking into that crappy room and especially talking to that awful person (the manager) on the phone. I am never ever going back there. I would rather sleep in the street than checking into this terrible campus inn.

I once stayed @ the university plaza in Columbus, OH. I spent a full day there. I slept, used the bathroom and did everything. Then I decided that I am not spending the night and I checked out @ 11:30 pm. The guy at the front desk refunded me half the cost of a night. That's how a hotel should treat customers. With respect. And that's why I will not hesitate to check into the university plaza anytime in the future.
