Old does not have to mean falling apart
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/24/11
Wallpaper was pealing off the walls in the bathroom. The finish was worn off the bathroom fixtures. There were holes in hallway ceiling. Their website that my room had ppv movies and a mini bar, it had neither. There were only two hangers in the closet. The faucet leak a lot of water when I turned on the hot water. The queen room was small but the size was fine for just one person. The staff was friendly and the location was great. I used to work at a much older hotel in Chicago so I know that an old hotel does not have to mean old dilapidated rooms. There are much better places to stay.

What a dump...
By not important, 6/6/09
I travel alot for business and use priceline all the time. I am not particular about my hotels so priceline works great for saving money. I booked The Canterbury for $60 and feel like I overpaid by $40. The room was tiny - which I don't really care about but also had no desk to work on. The carpet was sticky; had no coffee pot nor a ironing board or iron. To get ice I had to order it from room service for a charge. The only things going for it was the doorman/bellstaff and location. It's right next to St. Elmo's right in Centre Point and connected to the mall. To rate this a 4 star is an insult to all the other true 4 stars out there.

Never Again
By Colin, 8/20/12
We rented the Presidential Suite for a convention in August 2012. We had problems from the outset. The hotel refused to give us an extra blanket (a first for me). There are no ice machines (you have to ask the staff for ice). The "free Internet" was broken for the entire duration of our stay (4 days). There is no coffee maker in the room (and this was one of the nicest rooms in the hotel--you would think they could put one in there). The bellhop was tipped generously by my friend, and then when he wasn't looking, tried to get a tip from me moments later. The service in the bar was awful (bartender was out smoking in the alley while we waited for drinks). The hotel de-activated our carkeys at midnight on our final night. We couldn't get into the room when we got back at 12:30am. No explanation there, just attitude. Twice I went down to get the continental breakfast at 9:30am only to find all the pastries gone, and the coffee maker empty. The hotel made no effort to replace the food. The elevators are old and slow (not a big issue, but it just adds to the problems I already encountered) When I brought up some of these issues at checkout, there was no apology from the staff, only attitude. Stay at the Omni if you want good service and avoid this place.

Beautiful Boutique Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/2/06
This was a great little hotel right in the middle of everything. It was connected to the Mall and surrounded by restaurants. We enjoyed the small hotel as oppossed to all the other big hotels. The staff got to know us by name before we left. A really great hotel for service and professional staff

Cobwebs from the 80's
By Traveler MT, 4/22/13
The room was dirty, old and musty. It was like as if time had paralyzed and it had not moved for decades. There was wallpaper coming off the walls and rust in the tub. Would not go back or recommend.

Never will go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/10
This is the first time I have ever wrote a reveiw for a hotel. I was very disappointed in this hotel. The only thing good about the hotel was the location and the bell hops. The people behind the counter where rude from the beginning. they act like they where doing you a favor just to talk to you. The rooms where fairly clean but for being a five star hotel is an insult to the other five stars I have stayed in. The cleaning ladies where in our room before 10:00 am. We had to get our stuff and use the bathroom while they where there. We just got back from breakfast. It took them 25 minutes to get our car. They where not honest about the $199.00 Colts package. (hidden cost) I would recommend staying in a Holiday inn express for the same money. I will never go back. Sorry but that's the plain truth.

Best of the best
By Ann, 11/29/06
We loved the hotel and its primo location. Indy is just a jumpin' and jivin' place to visit and staying downtown is the place to be! The hotel staff are so gracious and the restored English hotel is just beautiful. My only complaint would be the small room that we got instead of the large room promised. Next time we will request a larger room with a king-sized bed.
