Worst hotel stay ever!!!
By Zeke, 03/02/09
Where do I begin? OK, there was no internet connectivity in our room. The little "tent" type placard on the desk said to call an 888 number for someone called "Answer IT" if you need help 24/7. I called and when I gave them the required info, they told me the hotel had no service contract with them! I called the hotel desk twice and was told that maintenance would "re-set the thing upstairs". Well, that made no difference. I went to the desk and was told I had to log-on AT the desk and then walk back to my room. I did so and by the time I got back to my room the connection was gone again. To access internet I had to sit in my car. When I questioned the Answer IT placard and the lack of support, I was told that the placard was probably left over from when the hotel was a Holiday Inn. I then asked, "how long has it been Clarion?" She said "one year"!!!!! Holey-Moley!!! Didn't anyone notice and think to remove these placards? She said she has never stayed at this hotel and has no idea if the placards are in other rooms. She then suggested that the weather may have been the culprit for lack of connectivity. When I challenged that she admitted that she didn't know what the weather had been like in Anderson, since she had just gotten back from South Carolina!. She also tried to throw the housekeepers under the bus, stating that they have no idea what should or shouldn't be in the room! There was no fridge in the room. Every room I found online for this hotel listed a fridge in room. Also, no microwave. The coffee maker was there, along with the grounds from the last guests pot of coffee AND their empty sugar & creamer wrappers. Whew! I needed a drink. Of course, the ice machine in our building wasn't producing or dispensing. I went to the desk and was told to go out the door at the extreme rear of the building (I was in the front, of course) to another building and there I would find ice! It was really cold that night. I was fuming. When we went to bed, we realized there was no air/heater, just a switch on the wall that said "Hi, Off or Lo". We could barely breath by mid night and opening the door only let in the Chlorine scented air from the pool area. Be advised: the exterior doors are open all night. They have no locks on them. There is no security at all, no cameras, etc. One exterior room had the picture window busted out. The indoor pool entry doors were designed to open with a key card swipe, however, the locks mechanisms were missing. Talk about a disaster waiting to happen! The pool water is bath warm, however, the air in the pool area (which is like a big atrium) is freezing. The maintenance guy kept opening the door to the outdoor pool and every timer he did everyone in the indoor pool screamed. My kids got blue lips from the air, not the water. I also noticed that the outdoor pool was filled with filthy, frozen water! This was February 28 - March 1, 2009! As previous writers (see Expedia, etc.) have pointed out, this hotel needs to be thoroughly cleaned, repaired and painted. Breakfast was standard, only the woman drenching the kids waffles with syrup was an issue. I would recommend this hotel ONLY as a last resort. You can ignore the little satisfaction thing that you'll find on the desk. It says something like "satisfaction made simple". Yet, they were not able to satisfy and of these issues. In fact, they made it seem like it was just someone else's fault (like ours, the weathers or the housekeepers)

Awful Experience!
By Joyce, 10/01/08
The pool had been closed by the Anderson Health Dept. due to high bacteria count. Breakfast bar was empty by 9:00am. Worse of all I got hundreds of parasite bites from the bedding! Two rounds of prescription pesticide and 4 weeks to clear it up. Front desk help said the owner was out of town for a month and did not leave enough in the budget to run the hotel. Choice Hotel home office was of no help when I sent pictures of the parasite bites. If you are in Anderson, find a different hotel, don't risk your health!

Worst hotel I've EVER been in...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/09/08
Our volleyball team reserved a block of rooms for a tournament in Muncie. When I got to the hotel at 10:30 after a long day at the tourney, the lobby was pretty nice - and cold! About 70 degrees, I'd say. My room was about 85. I turned the thermostat down as far as it would go. The air blowing from the vent, wasn't even cold. We went out for wings and beer and returned a couple of hours later. The temperature was marginally better. In the morning, it was tolerable - about 78. Others in our group also had non-working AC, no towels, etc. And judging from the comments I heard from other people staying there, quite a few others had similar problems. Looking down from the balcony into the pool, you could see how dirty the water was. It's just a horrible place.

Don't Judge a Book By It's Cover!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/15/08
My family booked rooms here for one night; we were attending a funeral. We walked in and thought "not too bad," but when we walked in a little further, it became clear to us that this was NOT going to be a great stay. The hotel was built in the 60's, and according to the desk clerk, the rooms had not been upgraded since. We tried to open the door to our room and the key didn't work. The maid tried her master key, and it still didn't work. We finally got into the room and it was very musty and definitely OLD! The beds were sinking in the middle, the fan to the bathroom was covered with dust, and there were old water spots on the ceiling. The other room, well, it was dirty and stained up everywhere. The desk clerk tried her hardest to satisfy us, but after 5 rooms and no air conditioning, we gave up and went elsewhere. The hot tub didn't work, and the pool was dirty. Oh yes, the reaking smell ,of what we thought was sewer, filled the whole hotel. Come to find out, they were cleaning the grease traps from the restaurant and that's what the smell was...not sure if I would eat there with that kind of stinch; made me sick to my stomach!!!! So, if you like staying at cheap "trucker" hotels, then this is the one for you!

Save yourself do not book here!
By dluvly1, 03/04/08
This hotel was horrendous! I requested a non smoking room. I received a so called non smoking room but the room was filled with smoke. There was also a musty scent in the room. We arrived late that night and had to walk down a dark corridor to get to our rooms we did not feel safe the hallways were not lit. There was also stains on the sheets. Please think twice about staying here.

Not clean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/07
The room was dirty, hair all over the bathroom floor and in the shower. The carpets had food crumbs all over and there was no hand soap or any other toiletries in the room. A thin sheer curtain covered the window so people walking in front of it could see right in.

Needs Drastic Improvement
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/06/06
Our experience at this hotel has to be one of the worst we have experienced. We not only reserved 1 room, but 9 for a wedding. One of the rooms was so bad our friends had to call down and have the bathroom cleaned because the workmen renovating the Inn had evidently used the bathroom and made a mess. No one even apologized. The tile grouting in the bathrooms needed a good cleaning, the vent fans were full of dust and dirt, and the air conditioning was not working properly. The roll away bed that was delivered had evidently not been cleaned because the last person's bill was still in the bed. The staff wore no name tags or shirts to identify themselves. They were unsure of themselves and had no answers to a lot of our questions. I was extremely disappointed and frustrated. I didn't have a lot of time to run around putting out fires while trying to host out of town guests at a wedding. My advice to this ownership would be to do more than just renovate the lobby and a few rooms. Service and cleanliness are more important.

under construction
By KennethE, 06/07/06
The hotel was under construction and I reserved a non-smoking room and they gave me a non-smoking room that smelled like smoke. I had to check several rooms before I could get a non smelly one.

Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/31/05
This is a nice hotel. When we went up for the Indiana Derby, we got drunk in the bar, then went to the track. You save money that way. The rooms were clean and staff courteous.
