Sea of humanity
Myself and my 2 sons, ages 8 & 10, went to the water park yesterday. Tried to book online the night before but couldn't. The next morning I called and got a recording saying Saturday day passes are sold out (this was on Sunday morning). Called another number and was transferred to someone else, and after at least 20 rings a very disinterested voice answered. I told her I was having problems getting passes online and needed to purchase some for that day. She told me I could get them online, so I repeated my story and she said, "well then just buy them when you get here", and SLAMMED the phone down before I could ask if she thought they'd sell out that day. An hour later I checked the website and was able to purchase our passes. Good thing, because, yes, after an hour's drive to get there, there was a sign saying they were sold out. Passes cost $39 each.
Sold out indeed. You have to get a separate wristband for a locker ($5 + $5 deposit), and the first pass she gave me said ALL FULL on the little digital screen that's supposed to tell your locker number. Went back to the desk for another one, still didn't work, but finally one of the lifeguards helped me to get one open.
There were a TON of people there at 1:00 when we got there(it opens at 10). I tried the lazy river while the boys went on the slides. It was wall-to-wall inner tubes, and even though the signs said no chains, walking, roughhousing, etc., most of the kids were doing it anyway. The poor lifeguards were trying but nobody really listened. There is a hot tub which I attempted next, but also very crowded; one kid jumped over my head into it, others were trying to swim in it. People were bringing little babies into it. Not very relaxing, not to mention dangerous for the baby!
The food was Pizza Hut, burgers, hot dogs. The combo meals averaged $8.00. There's also a bar with food - salad and sandwiches around $7.00.
There are tables and chairs all around but I guess they can be reserved all day as long as you throw your stuff on them. I saw 6 empty "saved" tables while my sons and I were trying to find a place to eat. Hey, who cares about anyone else?
It started to calm down around 4. If I ever lose my mind and decide to take them again it would be from 4-8, when they close.
One more thing; the boys loved it!
