Westin-Not-So-Westin
I am a confirmed Starwood fan! I love the Westin, The W, and The Sheraton hotel brands. Nothing beats the heavenly beds! However, the Westin on Michigan Ave downtown Chicago just doesn't make the cut. The hotel was previously a Days Inn and even after an extensive renovation, the ol' Days Inn is still visible. The staff at the desk needs more customer service training as their delivery is a bit unpolished. No pool at this hotel, so don't bring the kids. Although I thought, with no pool, why don't they make internet free?! Nope! not these guys, in fact their Internet is 30% more than the other Westin's I have stayed at.
I wonder why they didn't have adequate ventilation in the rooms. Wow, what a terrarium that room became after we took our showers. The cheap old aluminim window frames were sweating, leaving puddles on the sill...yuk.
The concierge was helpful and knowledgeable, kudos to her.
The toilet stopped up on first flush. Although I did receive a written apology for this and it was corrected right away.
I will stay with Westin's (again) knowing full well that every Westin can't hit the mark. Next time it is the W for me when visiting downtown Chicago.
