The Grill restaurant on the first floor
By ,
Boss boy was cutting bread with bare hands, without using gloves and serving bread to patrons in that manner. Told manager that hands carry all sort of bacteria. Reported problem to Board of Health. It is sickening that a restaurant in a hotel like this one does nto follow elementary rules of food handling to protect the health of the patrons.

Never Again
By ,
OK so i get there an hour after check-in due to traffic and my room was still not ready.. they told me it would take an hour to clean.. after me going back to the front desk so many times they finally all of a sudden cleaned it and they were waiting on someone to clean a stain a size of a penny off one of the couches. First night overall was horrible, We got called on 3 times for talking to loud and immediately threatened to evict us from our hotel room. Next day they walk in and tell us were being evicted. So if your looking to be in your room for more then a hour i wouldn't recommend this hotel.. if your looking to stay out at the bars past 11pm then i wouldn't recommend this place.. i will never stay at the Westin hotel or any sister hotels ever again 55 dollars a night to park a car you got to be kidding me?

A total rip-off
By ,
We paid $380 a night and got a smelly broom closet with one tiny bar of soap for both sink and shower, cheap plastic cups and a view of an air conditioner. We would NEVER go back. I was expecting a classy, nice hotel and we got a low-budget joke.

Excellent stay!
By ,
I took my daughter for an overnight for her 10th birthday and we had an outstanding stay! We arrived at 2pm so could not check in until 3pm but they took our bags along with my cell number and called when the room was ready. In the meantime we toured Michigan Ave! The room was very clean and pretty and we even had an amazing view of Lake Mighigan! At check out the next day, we weren't quite ready to leave at 12pm so we checked our bags for the rest of the day! I would highly recommend the Westin on Michigan Avenue!

Westin-Not-So-Westin
I am a confirmed Starwood fan! I love the Westin, The W, and The Sheraton hotel brands. Nothing beats the heavenly beds! However, the Westin on Michigan Ave downtown Chicago just doesn't make the cut. The hotel was previously a Days Inn and even after an extensive renovation, the ol' Days Inn is still visible. The staff at the desk needs more customer service training as their delivery is a bit unpolished. No pool at this hotel, so don't bring the kids. Although I thought, with no pool, why don't they make internet free?! Nope! not these guys, in fact their Internet is 30% more than the other Westin's I have stayed at. I wonder why they didn't have adequate ventilation in the rooms. Wow, what a terrarium that room became after we took our showers. The cheap old aluminim window frames were sweating, leaving puddles on the sill...yuk. The concierge was helpful and knowledgeable, kudos to her. The toilet stopped up on first flush. Although I did receive a written apology for this and it was corrected right away. I will stay with Westin's (again) knowing full well that every Westin can't hit the mark. Next time it is the W for me when visiting downtown Chicago.

Not as good as expected
By ,
A group of girls along with myself decided to drive up to Chicago, Il on 12/28/07 for an overnight stay and shopping. The Westin is located in the center of all of the shopping, that was a plus. We had reserved our rooms over the internet as they had a special rate of $189.00/night per room of which we booked two. When we arrived, they could not find our reservation even though we had a confirmation number. We had requested adjoining rooms. That was not available. I was told at the time of the booking that it would not be guaranteed though. It took forever to get our rooms at the front desk. Once we got to our rooms, they were nice on the inside, however, the views were terrible. Views of the rooftop. Room 419 heard the dinging of the elevator all night long along with people in the hallways fighting at midnight. Had to call security. Room 425 was awakened at 3:00 am to the people on the other side of the wall having loud sex. The walls were paper thin. I had stayed at this hotel last year and had a great experience when I paid $400 for the room. I guess the cheaper internet rates give you a room with a bad location. I also thought the hallways on the fourth floor where we stayed were dingy. Needed remodeling. On a good note though, we had two tires going flat when we arrived at the hotel(New tires by the way two weeks ago). The entire garage staff at the Westin were wonderful to us and helped us out in numerous ways. The waitress in the bar at the Westin was super and the food at the Westin restaurant was excellent. Our waiter was great as well. All was not lost. Chicago was great even with all of our problems with the hotel.

The best location and value in Chicago.
By ,
The location of the Westin is its greatest asset. Located directly next door to the John Hancock tower, and in the heart of the great shopping of Michigan Avenue make this hotel a tremendous value for its very affordable price tag. The lobby was a great place to people watch, and the concierge and front desk were incrediably accomodating. The rooms were amazing. The bathroom was the definition of luxury. The beds were extremely comfortable! An easy walk to everything in Chicago, really tremendous hotel.
