Doubletree Arlington Heights, Arlington Heights

This was my first visit to the States with 3 other friends for a training session that was held in the hotel. Everything about the hotel was great. The four of us agreed that the hotel was clean, the rooms were spacious and very tidy, the restaurant served good food, the gym was well equiped and the pool was clean whenever we used it. The friendliness of the staffs was at the highest level. We would like to particularly thank John at reception who was always there to accommodate us. Because all four of were first timers to the States, we were warmly welcomed and looked after. When we went to check in to this hotel recently, we were disgusted with the condition of the hotel itself. Our room was large and the bed seemed OK - however, we went to check out the pool, hot tub and workout room and we were very upset. We had planned on spending the evening in the hot tub and pool and then working out the next morning. The pool itself was disgusting, there were pieces of I thought were diaper floating in it. You could not see the bottom of the pool the water was so murky and gross looking. The hot tub had a ring of grime around the top of it and on top of all of that, the jets were not working in the hot tub at all. We were told that it would be fixed on that following Monday, however that was our check out day. When we went in to the work out room, we saw that several of the machines had "out of order" signs on them, leaving only a couple that were able to be used. When we told the desk clerk about it, he said "really, that is the first I have heard of this". The same answer we got regarding the pool and it's disgusting state. The floors or carpeting on the floor leading to the rooms and elevators is worn. The funny thing about all of this is, the lady we made our reservation with said the hotel had newly been renovated. With the exception of the check in area, the hotel has NOT been renovated in some time. Don't let the pictures on the internet fool you, that pool and hot tub DO NOT LOOK LIKE THAT - I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. We decided to leave the hotel immediately and went across the street to another hotel, with a much better pool area and a cheaper rate. They treated us like royalty at this hotel!

As many know, this hotel was tired in the past. NO LONGER! This is a gem. The rooms, the lobby, the restaurant, the fitness center, the bed. All stood out. Neat having a in room safe to lock away my wife's anniversary present. Took the free shuttle from the airport and also went to Woodfield Mall. My wife and I got married at this hotel 10 years ago and have been back every year since. This time back blew me away. Fantastic hotel now.
