Unprofessional. Latch your door.
By Terry, 1/13/12
We were here in the beginning of January and enjoyed watching the eagles from our room. At this time of year there are no leaves on the trees so we could see them along the river. What we did not like was the careless attitude of the employes. On the last day of our stay a young man walked into our room without knocking or warning of any kind. My wife was in a state of undress so we were both shocked. He had a master key and when I complained to the front desk they said he was a laundry checker.[?] He didn't have a cart or anything, just a key. The girls at the desk were not overly concerned and if a manager was present she did not stand out. The fact that there is no protocol in place to prevent such occurances is irresponsible and unprofessional. Latch your door.

Over priced! and poor customer service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/15/10
We got the romance package which came with a bottle of wine, some strawberries, and rose peddals. The wine bottle was smaller then a bottle of beer, and we got 6 strawberries. The restuarant in the hotel was empty but told us we had a 10 minute wait becuase they did not have enough servers. Winery was expensive, charged for samples and we found the same wine at the local gas station for 5 bucks a bottle that they were trying to sell for 15. Was waken up at midnight due to people talking and carring on. To top it all off it was way over priced. We could have gone on a cruise for the amount we spent at this place.

Unprofessional and Unethical
By Tim, 7/18/10
The management at this lodge is poor and unprofessional. After booking an event and paying thousands of dollars, the lodge refused to help me accomodate guests. Many promises were made prior to my payment, and not one was delivered. The lodge acted as if it was a privledge for me to have them hold my money. To date - still no services rendered.

Extremely unprofessional !
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/09
I used the term unprofessional versus actually RUDE! I had planned taking someone very special for what I remembered was a beautiful place. The experience just trying to book an overnight or weekend escape was a nightmare. The whole conversation left me feelling like they were saying, "We're doing YOU a favor" Every question was responded to in a negitive manner. Advised there were no packages and NO discounts, (ie. military,AAA, aarp) they didn't need to do that stuff. Probably fortunate there wasn't availability with that poor of a impression! Really unfortunate, since we were looking forward to this get-away, however if this is a reflection of what we would expect to receive while there, it worked out for the best.

loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/09
I thought it was one of the most beautiful lodges I have seen in a long time. The chess board in the lobby really won my children over. My husband and I visit once a year for our family vacation. Thanks everyone there that made it happen

disappointed this time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/26/08
I have been coming to Pere Marquette for over 10 years. I brought my kids here when they were growing up and still bring my daughter each year when she is on Spring Break and she is now in high school. I love the setting, the hiking, the atmosphere...but...this year we were disappointed. The pool temperature was uncomfortably cold. The Restaurant Menu has not been revised (except for pricing) in years. There are very few vegetarian selections. Everytime I called to make reservations I was given a different price...ranging from $99 to $135. When I arrived I asked for the breakfast coupons and was told they were not doing that this time. Then I noticed several people with coupons at breakfast time. When I checked out my billing was for $25 more than I had reserved the room. They did adjust that when I brought their attention to it. Last year there were signs about updating and remodeling of rooms. Nothing has been done. Still no microwaves or refrigerators.

Romantic and rustic
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/5/07
We to get to the park every fall to hike, and eat at the restaurant when we are in town. The facilities are beautiful, the hiking is superb, and we've been pleased with the quality of the food for all meals. We even had our wedding reception here. Although it's not a huge venue, the food was good, the atmosphere was gorgeous, and the staff was courteous and helpful, delivering the gift bags we had left for our guests directly to their room so that they did not have to try to manuever them with their luggage. We particularly liked the cabins rooms as a romantic, rustic getaway. Our only disappointment is that sometimes it is hard to get a reservation during the peak leaf season in the fall.

We Love It.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/14/07
The only thing we dislike,is that there isn't always a room available. We try to go about every 2 or 3 month's.That's how much we love the lodge. We like going into Grafton also.We like to look in the different shop's.Or just walk around. There are some room's we like better than others, but we've still liked them all.Thank you, everyone that works there. You all do a great job. The Jacks

My Husband and I spend our Birthdays here, and we love it!
By Carrie, 6/2/07
My Birthday is the day after my husband's, and he brought me here for the first time 10 years ago. We have spent many Birthday weekends here and absolutely love it! We never run out of things to do, and it's a great place to spend time away together without "daily" life getting in the way. We truly enjoy coming back and I'm looking forward to it again this year. Thanks so much. Sincerely, Carrie Hoover

Over priced
By david, 3/13/07
The place needs major updating. The room was way over priced. I was surprised to find mouse traps under the bed. All the electrical sockets were loose in my room (which isn't good for my 2 year old). I think I could have rented a camper and stayed at the state park for cheaper and had all the amenities of a hotel. You are charged for out going phone calls (even toll free). The TV belongs in a museum. No refrigerator or microwave. If you are planning a business conference here, DON'T! No cell phone coverage, limited internet connection. I bet back in the day this was a nice place to stay, but from what I experienced, I don't think I will waste my money next time.
