WORST HOTEL EVER
It was the night after our wedding reception and we hoped to have a romantic stay in a Jacuzzi/Whirlpool Suite. When I called to book the room, I was not told that all of the beds in the entire hotel were queens (I have never stayed in a Suite room before that did not have a King, so I didn't ask the question). My husband is 6'5." so he barely fits comfortably in a queen to begin with, and the one in our room seemed even smaller than a queen if that's possible. My husband ended up sleeping on the sectional couch in the room. As if this was not awkward enough, there were also an assortment of other issues with this hotel. Another issue we had with the room was when we used the jacuzzi tube we realized little soot (like black pepper specks) were floating in the water. This did not really make for a romantic soak in the tube.
Perhaps worse than our complaints about the room would be our complaints about the staff--or lack of staff! The staff were missing, and apparently only the woman at the front desk could "help" us with anything. When we arrived at our suite and sat on the bed to chill and relax, we realized we did not have a remote control for our tv in the room. We called downstairs and the woman at the front desk said we could come downstairs to get a remote, rather than having someone bring it up to our room. Additionally, I needed non-down feather pillows due to allergies, and again, we called and were told we could come down for the items. So, we went downstairs to get a remote for the TV and a pillow. We had to wait at the front desk for 5 minutes for her to leave her post to get a pillow for me. Then, when we get up to our room, the remote's batteries were low, virtually dead, and it would only let you change the channel down, rather than up and you couldn't adjust the volume or anything. It was so frustrating my husband almost chucked it across the room. At around 11:30pm when I was trying to sleep, there were some crazy, loud men playing basketball right outside our window 4 floors down. Besides the fact that it was not basketball season (it was freezing cold outside) the guys were loudly yelling and bouncing the ball around so much that I could not sleep. I called the front desk and she told me she has no say over what people at her hotel do. I kept trying to tell her that there had to be some sort of rules about not playing basketball after 10pm or something for legal reasons/city restrictions/safety reasons and she insisted there was nothing she could do. About 25 minutes later, the bouncing stopped and she called me back to let me know that she talked to someone else at the hotel and there was, in fact, a rule about not playing b-ball after 10 pm. Had she enforced the rule at 10 pm, I would have likely slept better, despite the fact that my new husband was sleeping on the couch since the bed was so small.
The next morning, we slept in a little and noticed when we woke up that our tv was turned onto a pay-per-view movie. Somehow, someone in another suite had purchased that cheesy Bride Wars movie on our TV. When I went to turn it off, the remote arrow on the tv moved "magically" without my control and purchased the movie for a second time. It was like watching a ghost control your tv. It was ridiculous and I called the front desk manager and it was a man this time, and he could see we were in fact, having our tv hijacked some how and took the movie off our bill. His explanation for this happening was something lame like, "you never know with technology today..." When I told him about all of the other things that we were disappointed with, I think he took $20-30 bucks off the cost of the room...which did nothing to redeem the horrible lack of customer service and comfort. I have never been so disappointed with a hotel before. When we walked in and saw the new, modern decor, we thought it was going to be an awesome night--but it was awesomely bad if anything.
