Marina Tower Hotel, Honolulu

I came to Hawaii October 31-Nov. 9th to see my boyfriend who was stationed here in 2008. We booked this plac thru a vacation agency that highly recomended it. Well when we got their the place looked nice from the outside but looked aweful on the inside the floors were dirty we were told that the one we were staying was originally a condo that the owner rented out. The only good part about our room was that we were up on the 30 something floor so we could see the nice boats cross the street and the ocean. We hated it so badly that we got our money back and stayed somewhere else. It was a horrible experience the jack hammering was sti going on when we stayed there!!

As we were arriving to Hawaii on a flight landing at 0830, we booked for the extra night to ensure we could check in immediately to sleep off a long flight. Worked well - until workmen commenced jack hammering the tiled floor in the adjacent room at 0900. By the time I'd won the argument with reception arguing for a different room, then moved, it was 1030 - and any hope of a relaxed start to our three day stay was gone. The room we moved to was small, dirty and noisy. It was on the 8th floor, had a view into the adjoining tenement building, and was crawling with ants. The carpet and chairs were soiled and threadbare. In the bathroom the basin cabinet was fitted such that it was impossible to use the WC without bending almost double. The two lifts were both working while we were staying - they were filthy, very slow, and floor selction via the room keycard seldom worked, but both were running. Please don't stay at this hotel - the sooner it is demolished the better.

Here is what was found upon checking into the room; Blood Stains in Bathroom - lovely! Broken Cupboard Door - does not close at all Crust in Shower Soap Dish - not cleaned at all Front Door Gap - lets in hallway light all night long Mildewed Loose Caulking - coming off of sink and wall Missing Silverware - 4 spoons and one knife - nice No Glassware - two tea cups! Stained Ceiling Stained Lampshade Stained Seat Cushion - too awful to sit on! Aqua Waikiki on September 10, 2008. Posted in the ELEVATOR, NOT AT THE FRONT DESK - was a notice of construction - (this was AFTER CHECK IN!) Stating of jack-hammering and construction noise at 9 AM in the morning to remove old tile in the hallways of the hotel!

I loved the purple carpets they were really welcoming and the staff was really well monnored and the food was amazing i loved that hotel

Basic, clean hotel, but horrible maintenance. Only two elevators, one was closed for maintenance. The other broke down for almost two hours. No parking remotes available, so we had to get office staff to open the parking gate every time we wanted in or out. Hotel linens so thin we were afraid they would tear. Couldn't get an extra blanket. Overall horrible experience; won't stay here again.

The view is good from the higher floors if you're facing the ocean. There are new high rise buildings being built around the Aqua Marina, so the views are becoming more cramped. That's the only redeeming value the place has. The rooms are tiny, old, dysfunctionally shaped like triangles, dirty/moldy, and have worn out furniture and counters from the 80s. There are no hotel services. The entire week that we were there in January 2008 only one elevator worked. One long term resident said that only 1 elevator has worked for 5 weeks now. For a 40 story building, this just isn't acceptable. The place was apparently built as condos, so even the 2 tiny elevators if working couldn't carry HOTEL LOADS of passengers. It might have even been iffy for a condo. Staff could give a rat's behind about helping and even said "we're a low end hotel" in response to asking for a different room due to the moldy smell in ours. All in all, a poor choice, even if cheap. My advice, if you're here for spring college break, buy a couple air mattresses at WalMart and put a bunch of people in the room. It won't be any less comfortable.

We were told sleeps 3 adults but my sister had to sleep on a cot which they brought in and made our room even smaller than it already was. We were greatly misled.

Was a great bargin the pool was very nice and the location and views were great. The downside was room was very dated the elevator was also used by housekeepng and one was broken down. the breakfest did not always arrive. But was a great bargin.

Despite the run down condition of the room, and false advertised amenities; breakfast and internet connection included. My room was infested with cockroaches. If you like to have a party with roaches stay at the Aqua Marina RoacHOTEL.

We just arrived home after spending 7 days in the Aqua Marina. I have to say we did have a lovely room with built in drawers below the room length windows, fantastic view of the ocean, convenient kitchenette with a working dishwasher, air conditioning that kept our room a comfy 68 degrees,ample closet space and NO BUGS!!!. The staff with the exception of one young man who worked nights was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were kept clean, the pool was clean as was the jacuzzi and the laundry room. The bus stops right on the corner and will take you just about anywhere you want to go. The staff at the desk were always helpful with directions and bus route info. If you are into shopping the high end shops like Gucci, Prada, St. John, Channel etc. Ala Moana shopping mall is a five minute walk from the hotel. If you are looking for the granduer of the larger hotels than you will be disappointed. We were comfortable with the accomodations and the price.
