Sugar Beach Resort Condominiums MCH, Kihei

Sugar Beach Resort is fabulous! Our condo was right on the beach. The roaring waves filled our unit so much so that we often wondered if the surf would just roll right in. We saw whales every single day, even as I prepared dinner on the kitchen counters. At night, we feasted on stars....so many in the dark Maui sky. Everything was wonderful. A nice sandy beach, great pools and hot tub. Outside showers and restrooms. Great BBQ area. Wonderful pub on-site with warm and welcoming locals. Advice: check it out your first night and mingle. Half of the people there are tour operators and just might be able to make a deal. We will be back and will head right back to Sugar Beach.

We have stayed at the Grand Wailea just to use the pools on 4 different occasions over the past 10 years. $425 per night got us a 'garden view' room which my husband & I refer to (in humor) as "the room over dumpsters". I mean, there's ZERO ocean view. We've also booked a suite for $1,250 night (on our anniversary), which was sold as ocean front but it's really just ocean view because your lanai looks over the massive grounds-the beach is way the heck out there. You have to walk a substantial distance to get to the ocean. Then we stayed at Sugar Beach Resort about 4 years ago. OMG, you are literally sitting over the beach-it's heaven!! We have stayed in many resorts and hotels in the past 20 years and there is not a building that we know of that sits closer to the water than Sugar Beach Resort. If you want real, live, honest ocean FRONT, you will not find anything closer than the million dollar view at Sugar Beach Resort condos. The interiors certainly aren't the Grand Wailea, but you're not paying hundreds of dollars per night, either. If it's beach front you want, don't look anywhere else on the island. For the price, it's a deal beyond words. We have been staying exclusively at Sugar Beach Resort for 4 straight years. We reserve the same clean, updated, well stocked unit and the resort has every amenity we need. No more Grand Wailea for us. We've found our vacation paradise and can't wait to go back the minute we get home! It's a dream!! I can only suggest to those with negative comments is book through an owner and stay away from the rental agencies. There are some bad units out there but ask questions and get photos. There's many lovely ones as well. I highly recommend for honeymoons and anniversaries-very private, peaceful and incredibly romantic. Grand Wailea, eat your heart out!!!!

My daughter and I just got back from Maui where we stayed at the Sugar Beach Condos. It was fantastic. Really great location. Beautiful view of the ocean, nice and comfortable...beautiful grounds and pool. It was perfect. If I ever get back to Maui this is where I will stay again.

We had our 10 day vacation at Sugar Beach Resort, the unit we stayed has everything we need, it made us like staying at home. It's newly renovated, everything is new and room is nicely decorated, the view is excellent, and the location is good. It's really good for families with kids. We'll recommend this resort to our friends.

If you desire quiet,private area for your anniversary or honeymoon choose this resort. We were in an ocean front condo, just steps from the beach, with a view that led us to beuatiful sunsets, whale watching and just total relaxation. No hassle with greeting anyone, we kept totally to ourselves and that was not a hard thing to accomplish in this resort. The convenience of full kitchen, washer and dryer, and quietness was a plus. The actual room could have been updated the decor was dated. We have not forgotten this resort and plan to return.

We stayed at Sugar Beach Resort, Maui Jan.08 If you want to stay in a dirty and very dated place stay here. In all our extensive travels we have never been in a more disgusting room. When asked to be moved, they first offered us to clean the room. That would be impossible since the carpet, curtain, kitchen, and bathroom all were filty and very old. It took all day to finally move us. The new room was only a bit better. If you would like to see some pictures of our room go to Trip Adviser and look for our posting there. You will be amazed!

Being right on the beach is great, especially for one who likes walking on the beach.. The location is the best just between Kehei and Maalaea Bay. Your out of the busy section.

Sugar Beach is a lousy place if you're looking for crowded beaches, lots of traffic, and tons of shopping opportunities. It's a great place if you enjoy quiet, peaceful, unhurried days, with miles of beautiful beach almost all to yourself. The condominiums are clean, most have been nicely upgraded over time, and the staff is very nice. There's a wonderful opportunity to meet people from around the world as you cook your dinner on one of the 4 gas-fired barbeques located near the beach. The pool is quite adequate, and the shopping isn't too far away to make it a hassle. We've been there 3 times, and have always ejoyed ourselves immensely. It's a great value for the investment, and you're enjoying the same sun and ocean that you'd get at a crowded resort on the north or south shores. The only downside is there is very little surf, so no boogie boarding or body surfing to speak of.

Overall an excellent place to stay in Maui. Very convenient location. Close to all major spots such as Lahaina, Kihei, Kahului. You can go sailing in the morning and come back for a shower and nap then go out for dinner. Friendly and helpful staff. Condos well equipped with all necessary stuff for vacation. Price is much lower than those resorts either up in Kaanapali or down in south Kihei. Highly recommend to everyone. Only negative point IMO: it's pretty windy in the area.
