Maui Kai, Lahaina

My husband and I recently enjoyed a much needed vacation in unit 806 at the Maui Kai, and it was spectacular. Everything we read about the unit (which we found on www.mauikai806.org ) and about the building, were true. The condo was super clean, the bed was very comfortable and the views were indescribeable. We were fortunate enough to see whales right off the lanai and we even spotted some giant sea turtles! We hardly went out for supper because with the full kitchen, including an island facing the ocean, we didn't want to pay for a restaurant view when we already had perfect one, which saved us a lot of money. We used the barbecues and had terrific meals "at home", including fresh grilled pineapple! If we needed anything, the supermarket and an ABC store were only a short walk away. The beach out front had great snorkling, and we appreciated the heated pool and spa once the sun set. All in all I would highly recommend the Maui Kai, especially unit 806, and we look forward to going back some day! Thanks to the owner, Art, for answering our endless questions!

After cutting back on our vacation last year my husband and I really wanted a special trip this year and going to Maui and getting unit 806 made it worth the wait. I had heard about the Maui Kai because it is right on the beach with lots of oceanfront units and has a nice pool and hot tub. We still had to budget carefully but after doing some research I found the owners site called mk806.com We e-mailed them through their site and got a discounted rate and a free night on top of the discount which really made it the best bargain I could find (even better than vrbo listings I looked at because the price for 806 had no cleaning costs and this unit was newly renovated and much much better than what I saw elsewhere). One nice thing is the Maui Kai runs like a hotel so we even got daily maid service included in our price even though it is a condo. The unit was renovated and looked like something you'd see in a magazine. Lots and lots of fancy tile, comfy bed, nice furniture, flat screen tv, the kitchen was all new and fully equiped and I could go on but you can see pictures on the owners web site if you want. Since unit 806 is almost at the top of the building the views were incredible. We could see miles of ocean and the islands of Lanai and Molokai. I think what really made it for me was that you felt like you were flying above the ocean every time we stepped out onto the balcony (which the Hawaiians call a lanai). We would highly recommend unit 806. The Maui Kai is a great condo and it all came together and more than made up for last year's missed vacation.

Maui Kai 807 has amazing views! my fiance and I watched the sunset everynight from the balcony and each one was amazing! I couldent believe we were right on the beach, we went out snorkeling each morning! saw turtles, and lots and lots of fish! I spent the evenings at the pool, which was very relaxing! the staff at Maui Kai were beyond helpful, they had tons of suggestions of places to go and places to see and eat at. Maui Kai 807 had everything we needed, it was a home away from home when we stayed there in June of 2009. We were also able to get a great discount from the owners of Maui Kai 807 from there website www.mauikai.biz !! I cannot wait to go back and stay there again!!

We highly recommend this studio condo unit and this building to anyone looking for a great deal, wonderful location and all the amenities and neighborhood services you need! Swimming and snorkeling with giant sea turtles and lots of fish in front of the building (or at the next beaches either direction), watching dolphins and sunsets from our personal lanai (each unit has one) and walking to dinner or the grocery store all made this a great, relaxing vacation. We were there 3 years ago and our two mid-20s sons with their partners came this time too. We'll be back! We found the 806 owner’s website www.mauikai.org while looking for Maui Kai videos on YouTube and it promised a luxury condo at a discounted owners rate so we thought it would be worth e-mailing them (and it was because we saved about 30% but more on that later). For my wife and I this vacation was a much needed break and we just wanted to relax around the pool, beach and on our balcony and having a really nice room was very important to us. I did my research because I wanted a price we could afford but I wasn’t willing to settle for a unit we wouldn’t be happy with. We had stayed in a three floor condo on Maui a few years ago and although the price was cheap the room and building were like a worn motel so we learned our lesson. This time we got the opposite, a renovated luxury condo suite on the beach with a huge balcony and perfect ocean view. I won’t go into endless detail as the owners have pictures and video on their mauikai.org site but I will tell you staying in 806 even better than what I expected from first seeing their pictures. We actually liked it so much we found we enjoyed eating on the balcony more than going out for dinner because the views were better than any of the oceanfront restaurants we went to in Lahaina. There are BBQs by the pool and the kitchen was fully stocked so we also liked making lunch and eating it on the balcony between going to the beach and pool. There is a supermarket and take-out food within walking distance so it was always easy to get what we wanted if we were dining on the balcony. Which reminds me, one of the most annoying things I have found lately is that many hotels and resorts offer all these discount prices and then try to nickel and dime you on all the extras like parking, phone, cleaning fees, internet and the list goes on (in one Vegas hotel we I stayed in during a recent conference they even started charging for admission to the pool). 806 included everything in their discounted price and there were no additional costs, charges or fees. I know this review is a bit long so I will end it although I don’t mind spending the time writing as the owners Art & Sophie were very good to us and did get us a significantly discounted owner’s rate that they combined with a free night which saved us some significant dollars. And as happy as we were with the rate we were even happier with the unit as it really became our oasis in paradise for a perfect week. Thank you again Art & Sophie and we hope to be back soon.

This place is fantastic! it is ON the beach; there are turtles and whales, and lots of fish right off the beach. Swimming has a few rocks, but that is where the fish are! Maui Kai 807 is our favorite unit. It has been recently upgraded with new top-notch appliances so the kitchen is better equipped than ours at home! And the owners have provided a wonderful array of cookbooks. Maui Kai 807 is a studio unit which we prefer to the one-bedroom units because the bed is oceanfront so you can listen to the gentle sounds of the waves as you sleep. The best part is the wonderfully private oceanfront lanai with an amazing panoramic unobstructed view of the ocean and sunsets and moonsets between the islands of Lanai and Molokai in the distance! No need to buy an expensive whale-watch cruise, just sit on the lanai and watch the whales breach and spout and the dolphins swim by. From the front door, the view of the beautiful West Maui Mountains is equally incredible. Maui Kai has a lot of amenities – free high-speed Internet access, DVR’s and iPod docking stations in every room, free local phone calls, free parking, complimentary beach towels, daily maid service, free computer and wi-fi at the pool and gas barbecues. The Maui Kai staff are very helpful and friendly. Maui Kai is just a 2-minute walk from the grocery store and delicious restaurants and a 10-minute drive to Lahaina. The beach at the Maui Kai is beautiful – great for morning walks, sun-bathing, swimming, surfing and boogie-boarding. And it never seems crowded. If you book through the owners web site www.mauikai.biz (this is great...) you can get free nights and up to a 25% discount! So you can get a great deal for an amazing unit! We highly recommend Maui Kai 807 for a perfect get-away, as well as for the whales, turtles and fish!!!

We absolutely love this place. We love this place so much that we find ourselves back here almost yearly. Always a great romantic getaway. Not to mention, there's discounts available at the owner's web site at www.mauikai.biz. The view is amazing...ocean front with an unobstructed view of the sunset as the sun lowers between lanai and molokai! Beautiful! The place itself is comfortable with internet access, full kitchen, and a wonderfully private lanai! The pool also has Wi-Fi access. The staff at the Maui Kai are always very helpful and so friendly. And the location is great...just a 2 minute walk from the grocery store and tasty restaurants and a 5 minute drive to Lahaina. The walk along the beach from the hotel is also beautiful and full of possibilities, whether it is sunbathing, swimming, surfing, kite-surfing, or boogie-boarding.

This was our second stay at the Maui Kai, and we already are booked to go back a third time. It is ON the beach. Not near, not a short walk, ON the beach. The beach, ocean, and sunsets are simply beautiful. The sand was barefoort ready, and snorkeling was fun right from the shore; just bring your dive shoes for the coral. Grab a bottle of wine from the local grocery store, some fresh pineapple and papaya from the nearby Farmer's Market, and kick-back on your private lanai and enjoy the sunset. It just doesn't get any better. If you are looking for a quiet, safe, and romantic place, this is it.

It is true,the View is great and a Lot of Whales. But the Problem is the Beach. After going 5 meter in the Water, a Wall of large Rocks made it inpassibel to go any further.In 7 days I saw 2 Poeple in the Water. Every Day 30 Miles Wind did not help. In the same Time in Lahaina almost no Wind at all.

We visited Maui for a week in December. It wasn't our first time but it was our first time at the Maui Kai (we stayed at the Royal Kahana last time). The one thing that blew us away about the Maui Kai is the view. Our unit was #806 and because it was almost on the top floor the views and sunsets were amazing (and the room looked like it had been renovated like a like high end condo and not a hotel room). And there's nothing like beakfast on your balcony while watching for whales (and you can see them without binoculars). I would recommend the Maui Kai highly. We found a site www.mauikai.org and booked through one of the owners who got us a really good discount rate. Glad we stayed there and we'll be back to Maui.. soon!
