Seawall construction ruined the experience
We were there in June. We checked in,only to find that there was major construction (jack hammers, backhoe, shouting workers, air compressor) RIGHT UNDER THE LANAI. The noise was unbearable.
Even had it not been under major demolition/construction the place is a dump. The pool is run down, the place smells like it's been there forever, and the noise form Ali'i drive is a constant factor.
Whatever you do, make sure the person renting you the unit can prove to you that the construction is done and the grounds have been repaired.
If, despite this warning, you want to stay here DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES rent from a private owner, go through the office. If you must rent from an owner avoid Brenda Rumball. She will take your money and not give you a refund EVEN IF THE PLACE IS UNSUITABLE AS A VACATION RENTAL. She knew about the construction before we even left for Hawaii, and she told us this after we complained, but she refused to refund our money. This is not a "personal attack," just a simple statement of fact.
Not worth the time or money. Many great condos in Kailua-Kona are going begging right now. Take your money up the street and see what kind of a deal you can get.
