Condo perfect...but construction smells and sounds unpleasant
We weren't sure what to expect since most of the
condos throughout Maui are individually owned. We
booked our trip through AppleVacations and got
a great deal. We read the reviews of Kihei Akahi and
didn't really find anything negative.
It is not fancy but our condo was clean, sunny and
well equipped from the kitchen utensils, tools,
toaster, microwave, iron,etc.etc.
They also had PLENTY of towels including beach
towels and a complete set of beach chairs, boogie
boards, noodles, beach mats.....
The only bad thing is that they are still remodeling
Unit D where we stayed so they were doing painting...so we couldn't open the bedroom windows. There is also a lot of construction on
the hills behind the condo and the heavy construction equipment is used early ........But
this was a MINOR incovenience since we didn't hang
out at the condo during the day. We were also close
to the elevators but the noise was not bothersome.
We didn't have much contact with the staff. FYI
if you check in after hours you have to phone a
number to get instructions on getting your key....
A little awakward but everything worked out fine.
Another plus --we had a fantastic view of the
beach and sunsets!!!
The location is great, across from the beach and
centrally located to all the sighseeing spots in Maui.
If you are a Motel 6/Super 8/modest accommodation traveler the Kihei Akahi will be
perfect for you. Personally I can't see spending
another $100 or more a night to get a "spiffier"
place...the beds, furniture, tv,washer/dryer
were quite comfortable! We'd go there again.
