Would go back this afternoon if I had the chance!
By Ann, 01/29/10
The Kauai Beach Resort was so wonderful and friendly! We were just there over Christmas and New years. The staff was the friendliest I have ever experienced-so helpful and cheerful that it always made you feel like "no worries". The outdoor bar near the pool was bartended by the friendliest guys-they made our stay so much fun-on those days when you just wanted to lay around the pool or watch the whales go by while sipping on a mai tai. The rooms were very nice (and we are used to rooms in the Chicago area). We never had to complain about things not working in our room and it was very quiet there. The beach was not crowded and there were lots of surfers to watch. I loved listening to the ocean from our ocean front room. We slept with the lanai open every night. One of the nice things was the Expedia service people who would help you to plan excursions and set them up for you. We were clueless as to what was available on the island. Whatever you do, take the helicopter ride-breathtaking!!!!! And the sunset cruise with Captain (I think it's Bob)! Drinks and food unlimited were included. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Kauai Beach Resort is my choice and I ill never forget my time there. It was like heaven for my husband and me. I can't wait to go back.

Windy experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/27/09
The good things about the hotel are the rooms with King Size bed, the view, the swimming pools and its location in relation to the airport. Less enthousiastic: the draught in the hotel (except) in the rooms, is really too mutch and makes the place (bars!) usutable to stay. We have only had one dinner in the hotel because it was too cold and windy! Moreover the 'guest service' could be a bit more client-friendly by assisting in confirming international reurn flights. Really, below Hilton standard.

Wonderful Resort
By klburt, 10/13/08
We spent 8 days at the resort. First of all, everything was absolutely beautiful. The 3 mile stretch of the beach on the resort was breathtaking (however not for swimming but a few good swimming beaches close by). The rooms were modern and very cozy (and clean). The staff went above and beyond my expectations. I would definately want to go back!

Exceptional Value
By Quixotic Cowboy, 07/21/08
We spent a week here celebrating our 30th Anniversary. A wonderful resort to use as "home base" for exploring Kauai. A very solid 3 star (4 if there were more food options) resort, with a 2 star price tag. Exceptionally clean and well maintained, the service isn't quite up to par with Hilton Hawaiian Villiage on Oahu, but then the price isn't up to that level either. Rooms were a touch small, but who goes to Hawaii to spend time in a hotel room? Very friendly staff all around. If returning to Kauai, I we would certainly stay here again, unless I had enough Marriott points to stay there for free. The only negative was the overcrowding in the executive lounge area at breakfast. Highly recommended for anyone, and particularly those wishing to save a few dollars.

Perfect Location
By Gary, 01/31/08
The beach is fantastic. The resort is located on a secluded beach! Miles of beach access, very few people. The resort is very nice, pools are great, food is expensive, but the location and amenities are first class. Would stay there again!

Loving Lihue
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/17/07
Stayed at the Hilton Village on Ouha prior to coming to the Hilton at Lihue on Kaua'i and there IS a major difference in hotels. Preferred the Lihue area but the rooms are very small and they are not very well insulated from the noise. We were on the top floor (conc.) and always heard the folks in the Shutters Lounge downstairs EVERY night, as well as any and all children or adults who spoke in more than a whisper on the floor. The area is beautiful, the pools/hot tubs, etc. were very nice and scenic. My only dissappointment was the size of the room and the noise level...unfortunately they can't help the record breaking rains we experienced while there!

Not Up To Hilton Standards
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/02/07
I booked this hotel because it was half the price of the Hyatt... and I got half the service and quality that I normally get at a Hyatt (and most Hiltons). For the good points: it is centrally located on the island's main highway for sightseeing. If you turned left or right out of the resort, you would reach the end of the road in about an hour. The pools were great and not crowded... EVER! The restaurant served good food that was priced within reason compared to the few restaurants offering the same cuisine on the island. Housekeeping gave us whatever we wanted whenever we asked. The beds were comfortable and the shower worked well. Now for the bad: the front desk staff is HORRIBLE!!! They had an attitude from the time I checked in until I checked out. Even though the resort just completed renovations, some rooms were not completed and old material was left behind (e.g. old blinds were left on the patio door instead of the newer, wooden, sliding doors). My rate included a rental car. When I asked them where my car was, they told me I had to go back to the airport to get it. They wouldn't even drive me to the car rental lot! They drove me to the airport to wait for the car rental shuttle!!! While the pools were never crowded, there were not many lounge chairs around the pools. I ordered from the pool bar and it took one hour for one of my orders to be delivered. The beach is NOT swimmable. It is rocky with a rough surf. Nice to look at but don't go in. I've heard people using the Entertainment Book coupon to stay here for $105/night. That's about all this place is worth until they correct their people issues. I got through my experience by spending most of my time somewhere else and only going back here to sleep. I'd opt for the Hyatt or Princeville Resort next time.

Outstanding Value!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/07
This hotel far exceeded out expectations. We stayed from July 7 - July 14th 2007. The room was freshly redecorated and clean, the pools were reminiscent of the Mirage in Vegas (on a much smaller scale of course) and they were never crowded, though the hotel was sold out. Much higher pool to room ratio than the Sheraton, Marriott or Hyatt! This place is large enough to meet all of your needs, but small enough to not be a sea of people (see before mentioned resorts.) Plus - it is cheap enough that it is a shame to even use your Hilton points here! Can't say enough great things about this place...
