Like your own private beach
By Leann from Chicago, 8/28/11
This was our second time at this hotel, and it has been cleaned/updated since our last visit ( in 2007). Granted, it is NOT like staying ina modern, 4-star hotel, and if you don't request on of the rooms with air conditioning it can get hot. For us,that is more than made up for by the peacefullness. While the beach is not really for swimming, it is so beautiful and peaceful! We spent one whole day just hangin' out on the beach, reading and watching the boats, the crabs, the tide coming in, and the clouds gathering over Lanai, which you can see right across from you. You can also see Maui to the east. We had the beach entirely to ourselves nearly the whole day. If you are not someone who just really enjoys relaxing with the natural world, well, go to Waikiki.

It's a quiet & nice place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/26/10
It's a good place if you want to get away from a city life. I like the place because it's so peaceful. You can really relax because the surrounding is so quiet. I like it a lot. The staffs are so friendly, it's the Friendly Isle, that's for sure. The staffs are so helpful. I like the ambiance. Nice view. Good restaurant and good entertainment. Very local which is good coz it make you feel like you are part of the OHANA (family). I will definitely come back again.

Run very fast in the opposite direction
By annah, 1/3/08
Filthy, dirty, mildew, bees, bugs, stains, nasty, chickens, roosters, unfriendly and rude employees (unless you're one of the locals that pretty much live at the bar), stains, dirt, hot (no air conditioning and air cannot circulate through filthy screens). And did I mention filthy, unfriendly and rude? Yes, the horrible reviews are correct - Run very fast in the opposite direction!!! And be careful not to hit one of the community roosters on your way out of the place.

Absolutely delightful!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/07
The music needs to be every night!!! Folks come here to listen to our special music and very special people who entertain each evening and now that it is stopped, for the most part, the tourists have been saying.........they're going to go somewhere else! They said they paid a lot to come here, and are unhappy with that situation. Perhaps that can be fixed, so that they feel Molokai is the wonderful place that we all know it is.

Camping Motel Style
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/4/07
Termites in walls, mouse in bedroom, bees on the balcony with nests in the walls...the sewage line had busted on one side on the hotel. The staff was friendly and resturant was priced good. No beach to swim. It was like camping inside. The grounds were maintained but not very lush.

Excape from the City Life
By Erica, 11/5/06
we just got back from our three year anniversary. The scenary was unlike anything I'd ever seen. The restaurant set behind the hotel on the beachfront. In the mornging you could watch the sun rise. The Hotel staff helped with setting with all activities throughout our vacation. The service that they provided was excellent. Yes it was not the "contempory" hotel that we were use to, but it was the BEST hotel that we have ever been.

Can't wait to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/14/05
My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon on Molokai. We absolutely loved it! The hotel was not luxurious, but extremely comfortable and the staff was exceptional. The entire facility is relaxed and friendly. We left well rested, refreshed and thinking about returning as soon as possible. The locals are friendly and very helpful. They are most willing to talk about the Island and its history. Molokai Outdoors is located on the premises and they can help you plan your days with as many or few activities as you want. Anything you want, just ask. A few things to keep in mind when visiting Molokai: -there are no cabs, call Hotel Molokai to arrange for transportation to/from the airport or ferry -food is expensive, everything is brought over on barges -the dinner food at Hotel Molokai is not the best. Paddlers (in town) has a better dinner menu -the Island is very laid back, most everyone drives the speed limit -don't be limited to paved roads, the dirt roads take you to the most beautiful sights (make sure there are no trespassing signs) In short, if you like to lay back and relax, enjoy beautiful landscapes, and love kind friendly people - you will fall in love with Molokai.

Your basic hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/9/05
We stayed at the hotel in January 2005. It was an old hotel that showed obvious signs of wear and tear. The room came equipped with a can of bug spray. On the up side, this hotel was conveniently located, had beachfront units available and housed one of the few restaurants on the island. Overall, it was an average hotel that fulfilled the basic requirements.
