Hanalei Bay, Princeville

WE WERE THERE FROM SEPT 14-24,2005. WE WERE MARRIED @ THE ANINI BEACH (@10 MINUTES AWAYS FROM THE RESORT)THE RESORT IT'S SELF WAS A DREAM,IT WAS EVERYTHING I WANTED MY TRIP TO KAUAI TO BE AND MORE! THE STAFF WAS VERY NICE AND KNEW US BY NAME! THE PRIMERE PASS GETS YOU FREE BREAKFAST AND 2 DRINKS EVERYDAY! THE SUNSETS WERE OUT OF THIS WORLD AND THAT THE NORTH SHORE OF KAUAI IS WERE YOU WANT TO GO FOR ROMANCE AND PEACE AND QUITE THAT YOU DON'T GET ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE ISLANDS! WE WILL GO BACK TIME AND TIME AGAIN!!!!

If your looking for paradise you will find it here. The landscape is everything that you would expect to find in Hawaii. The pools have waterfalls to play in as well as the spa which you can sit and enjoy the warm water falling on you, or sit back in the cave and just relax. It is quite a hike down to the beach though but there is always a driver to come and retrieve you for the ride back up. It is close to the town of Hanalei where my favorite restrauant Kalypso is and other facinating shops. The north shore is about 30 minutes away. The rooms were mostly clean, sometimes a little late in the day but they did get clean. The concierge was very helpful at helping us plan all our activities and handing out directions. We will definately be returning.

We've been to Kauai several times, and the 2nd time we decided to stay here. Never stayed anywhere else since. There's nothing like the view of Bali Hai while drinking cocktails at Happy Talk lounge, or eating breakfast at Bali Hai restaurant. I'm partial to the North shore because it's so stunning, so this is the perfect location for me. It's very clean and there's always a perfect smell or site.

The lush tropicals surronding it and the beautiful pool amist the landscaping was fabulous. It was so romantic; I would recommend it for anyone.

I have stayed at Hanalei Bay Resort twice and will be back. Although the beach is a few minutes away, it is breath taking when you arrive. Where else could you see 20 high waterfalls and rainbows to the South and gorgeous sunsets to the West at the same time. Relaxing and quiet, restuarant food and view are excellent. Can't wait until I go back...

We spent a week at this resort and could not bhave been happier! The setting is unbelievable and the staff was helpful and polite. The room was amazing (a studio). I would repeat the visit in a minute! Make sure to see Randy in town at the visitor center for help finding activities. This has the best hot tub too!

This place was a step out of the typical hotel and right in line with a tropical paradise hotel. The views were incredible and the beach was a very short walk down a path. Did I already mention the views!

The only things we liked about this place were the location and the beach access. However, those two things could not overcome the awfulness of the room itself and the other drawbacks of this resort. First, what you don't hear about is that the resort is large and you need to call to get a ride on their golf carts to and from your unit or expect a long walk to/from your car every time you leave the room. There is no restaurant nearby and not much else either, so you'll be driving everywhere. The pool was ok but it was always busy so we barely used it. There were also a lot of young adults having parties in their units, so you might have some noise to contend with. Also, people are supposed to empty their garbage every day and they just dump the garbage bags on the path for the golf cart people to pick up. Gross. We rented a private condo (unit 9124). The room reeked of mold and after staying there one night, I had a rash on my chest and back. I called the owner and she said "It's a tropical island, you should expect some dampness". She said the cleaners checked the unit and there was no smell. However, it was so overpowering that we could not even stay there another night. We paid over $600 for a terrible room with no refund or compensation after our complaints. Instead of staying in the room we paid for, we stayed with a friend who rented a unit at Princeville Plantations. They rented a 3 bedroom unit for almost the same price, and it was amazing. We ended up splitting the price of their unit with them, but it was worth. We also had friends at the Nihilani resort with an amazing unit as well. Stay at HBR at your own peril, but I would not recommend it. You don't want to ruin your vacation with a terrible place to stay.

This was our first time to kauai we fell in love!!! The only set it was not on the beach,however it was only a short ride down the hill. We loved it so much were on our way back next month.

The resort is in a beautiful setting, with walking access to the beach, and is 2 minutes from golf. Our condo was spacious, with great views. The decor was "tired" and not particularly well-mantained. Now, the sticking point--the service was very poor, with more than one surly staff member. We brought this up with management, and they were aware of problems with staff, since other guests were similarly disappointed. The resort is indeed lovely, but service is not resort-quality.
