Like being home
I've stayed at Hale Kamaole several times, so it feels like home. As a matter of fact, I consider it home. The grounds are in excellent shape, two pools with barbeque grills that are maintained daily.
If you need internet access, you'll have to either have dial-up or go to one of the internet cafes 1/2 mile away.
My stay was through a private ownership, so I can't really make judgements on services, etc.
The condo is just across the street from Kamaole III beach and park. You are within easy walking distance from several restaurants and tourist traps. You can sit in the park, on the beach or your lanai and watch whales when they arrive.
Kihei, itself, isn't a super glamourous town, so expect to have a laid back lifestyle and don't get in a hurry.
The only problem, is most condos on Maui tend not to have A/C in the dens & kitchen areas. Some don't have A/C at all, so you should consider that when you're deciding on what time of year to come.
If you're into shore diving (Scuba) there's an excellent shop up in the Island Surf building called Maui Dreams Dive Co. They are not boat divers but do have connections to them. Great folks if you need lessons. Very professional and friendly owners and staff.
