Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Atlanta Northwest, Atlanta

I just wanted to make sure and voice my opinion on my recent hotel travel experience. I stayed at the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Atlanta Northwest this past weekend. The hotel stay was awful... so bad I left early and the receptionist didn't seemed concerned either. She could have cared less I was disappointed. I purchased a two-queen-bed room and got 2 double beds. They lacked a comforter on the beds and the room was cold. The walls were dirty and the bathroom ceiling was discolored and falling apart. The toilet didn't flush properly and the shower drain was clogged. There were black ants in the room as well. Plus our room was secluded and down the hill a bit on the property. The workout room had a completely broken machine and the other equipment was taped together and ragged. We were VERY disappointed with this visit and will never return. We also plan on telling everyone we can about this horrible place.

The place had advertised high speed internet access in the rooms which it definitely did not deliver. I had the pleasure of killing a roach on my bathroom wall. I was here as part of a training class for which transportation was included. It was a complete hassle getting the hotel to pick up and drop off at a reasonable time. They wanted sign in sheets, even though my arrival and departure times were the same for two weeks. Poor service. Avoid this place if you can.

I have stayed there many times over the past 10+ years. It has always gone well. My last stay (Feb06) was no different. I forgot some personal things in the room, and when I returned to get them, the items were bagged and waiting! Happy hour is good also.

Carpet is threadbare. Furniture is obviously cheap, unattractive and worn. Bathroom and kitchen are too worn and dated. The place looks like it should have been renovated five years ago. Only redeeming feature is that the suites are spacious. Oh yeah, the air conditioning went out in the middle of the nignt during our stay. It was still off when we checked out the next day. Considerating the rate we paid, this may be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.

The things I liked were the appearance of the grounds and the entrance to the hotel. Also, it was in close proximity to a lot of stores. The room was clean and it had all the toiletries. For the price I paid I expected the room to look much better than it did. On entering the hallway was dirty and in the room were cheap tables and the room was small for a family of 4. The room basically was worth half of what I paid. This was a 1 bedroom suite. We spent 1 night and checked out the next morning to another hotel for a 2 bedroom suite which was much better and cost less than the 1 bedroom suite. Also, we thought the river was close by the hotel, was not. We were disturbed by the occupants above us between the hours of 2:00 am to 2:30 am and my husband called the front desk complaining. We did not get any results until we called a third time and this time we threatened to check out.
